Mr. John Miller, of Clinton, was in the city yesterday. State Senator R. B. Sears, of New port, was in the city yesterday.

Mr. John Cooper, of the car works, has returned from Mt. Vernon, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. Byron Martin, of Michi'city.

Dr. Hollingsworth returned yesterday afternoon from Fort Wayne, where he had been since Friday. •Miss Helen McGregor has returned from Pittsburg, Pa., where she has been visiting Miss Elizabeth Reymer.

Mr. E. F. Jordan left yesterday afternoon|for Evansville and Peoria. He will remain at the latter place several weeks.

Messrs. N. Boland and Charles Hoff have gone to Toledo, Detroit and Chicago to inspect steam apparatus for the High school.

Miss Alice Tolbert has returned to Windsor, 111., after visiting her sister, Mrs. Charles Whitbeck, on south Thirteenth street.

Mr. T. B. Cookerly and family returned to St. Louis yesterday afternoon Mrs. Cookerly has been visiting in the city several weeks.

There was a very pleasant dance given last night at Champer's hall inhonor of Mr. R. E. Hughes, of Omaha, Neb., who is here visiting his parents. About six teen couples were present. Mr. Hughes leaves for Omaha to-day.

Married, at the residence of Sant C. Davis, Montrone, Ala., on the evening of March 9, 1889, by the Rev. Mr. Gaskey, Sant C. Davis to Martha C. Barbono.
