CITY IN BHIEF-

The county commissioners visited the poor farm yesterday. Mary Ely, of south First street, who attempted suicide, on Thursday, was much improved yesterday. She is said to be of unsound mind.

The pockttbook containing S14.10, lost by Miss Kate Roth, a few days ago, in the depot street car, was found yesterday, and returned to the owner.

The Germania society will give a concert at Germania hall next Thursday evening. None but members of the society and their families will be ad mitted.

A small boy named John Keefe, while trying to catch a ride on a buggy yesterday on Fifth street, south of Main, got his leg fastened in the wheel and narrowly escaped having it broken. He was taken to his home on Third avenue in the patrol wagon.

PERSONAL.

Mr. Elroy Smith, a well-to-do farmer near Ellsworth, and Miss Ella Parki, of Neoga, 111., were married at the latter place on Thursday.

Hundreds of men wbo drink the vile mixtures of wholesale liquor dealers at night, are unable to labor the next day. It is much better to imbibe at Cobweb hall. The pure liquors drank there on social evenings do not incapacitate a man from duty the following day.
