It was built especially for theatric tcenery and baggage, and is capable of handling the largest scenery transported about the country. The car is sixty live feet in length—sixty inside—and has six large doors, one on each end and two in each side near the enilf, making it exceedingly convenient Tbr loading and un'oading long scenery. NEW YORK, August 9.—The second step in tha reorganization of the Nickel Plate road in the interest of the Lake Sbore was taken to-day at a meeting of the directors of (he Eiie & State Line and the New York, Uiica A St. Louis companies, comprising two sections of the Nickel PJate company, when both companies wero consolidated. This step will be repeated with the thrae other companies formed under the laws of the sutes thri ugh which the line passes, the liual meeting for the organization of the entire system ing fixed for September 20. Thie new securities will bj ready about October 1. H. B. Holmes resigned as secretary of the Nickel Plate.

George Smith was going along the streets of Lafayette in cimpany with ladies, when some boys threw stones at him. He fired at random and hit Willie B»ck in the neck, the ball just missing the jugular vein acd lodging near the ear, producing a painful but no^ a fital wound.
