Why You Feel
So weak and exhausted is because your blood is impure. As well expect the sanitary condition of city to be perfect with doliled water and defective sewerage, as to expect such a complicated piece of mechanism as the human framo to he in good order with impure Wood circulating even to its minutest veius. Do yon know that every drop of your two or three gallons of blood passes through the heart and lungs in about two and a half minutes, and that, on its way, it makes bone and muscle, brain and nerve, and all other solids and fluids of the body? The blood ii the great nourishcr, or, as the Bible terms it,
"The Life of the Body."
Is it any wonder, then, that if the blood be not pure and perfect in its constituents, you suffer so many indescribable symptoms
Ayer's Sarsaparilla stands "head and shoulders above every other Alterative and Illootl Medicine. As proof, read these reliable testimonies:
G. C. Hiock, of Lowell. Mass., says: "For the pu-st -." years 1 have sold Ayer's Sarsiiparilhi. In my opinion, the best remedial agencies fur the cure of all the diseases aiising from impurities of the blood are contained in this medicine."
Eugene I. Hill, M. 381 Sixth Ave., New York, says As a blood-purifier and general builderu of the system, I have never found anything to equal Ayer's Sarsaparilla. It gives perfect satisfaction."
Ayer's Sarsaparilla proves equally efficacious in all forms of Scrofula, Boils, Carbuncles. Eczema. Humors, Lumbago, Catarrh, &c. and is, therefore. the very best

If it hadn't been for Betty and the baby Buckner would have betn defeated in Kentucky.
Terre Ilaut^ certainly doesn't intend to snub the president, and rtfuss to ask him to slop over fir dinner.
At the opening of the campaign the Courier-Journal changed front and endorsed the Cleveland administration in everything it did. Kentucky didn't follow the example, however.
The morning of the election in Kentucky the Courier-Journal urged the Democracy to turn out in full fores, intimating that there wss daBger of losing the state. The Courier Journal is a good progQoaticator.
General Harrison addressed a large and enthmiastic meeting of U. S. Grant Post at Waihington Tuesday night. There is no soldier more welcome in Grand Army posts than tie modest and brave Indiana general.
The returns from Kentucky show a Republican gain of 1S,000. B?ar in mind that this does not represent Democratic absenteeism but a Republican gain, the two parties showing their proportionate falliog ctl in vote as compared with 1884.
The Democratic press is still harping on "that man Tuttle," "Tattle, (he blackguard," and "ihe scoundrel, Tuttle," trying to prove him to be a pusil lanimcus coward and everything that ia rascally, forgettiog ali the time that the more they break him down the more humiliating becomes the president's back-down in the St. Louis aflair.
Pension agents are now busy getting up receptions for General Bleck, candidate for vice-President. It seems to be •n administration movement and all office holders will be reqnired to help in the good'cause. In due time the administration will take charge of the cmsiTcf JDepnty Cgmmigaionex McLean

Down in Trigg county,-Kentucky, daring the earthquake, the gronnd sank fire or six feet, one farm of 250 acres lay six feet below the lev*), and is now covered by abont three feet of water from the springe started by the earthquake. All this occurred iust after midnight of the day before the election. It was merely a prelude to the disappearance of the big Democratic majority in that ctate.
At a reunion of eolored men at Bjeton the other day, resolutions were passed not at all complimentary to those in power at Washington. Mr. Cleveland, it will bs remembered, gave a Massachusetts col ored mugwump an important (ffice to capture the colored vote in that state. He should new write a letter saying he can't understand why this reunion wafitonly insulted him. By the way. he haen't written a scolding letter for a week. Perhaps Dan took the pens and paper from him.
days the Globe-Democrat: The fact that a few financial magnates ware constrained yesterday to combine aul save the stcckmarket, in order, as is repotted, "to prevent a pinio throughout the conatry," eho»s that thera ia considerable fright among some of the moneyed men in New York just now. There is, of course, not theelightest reason to fear thst a drop of several additional points in any of the secaritiee affeoted by tha recent bear raids would bring en a crisis. Business generally is on too soiid a basis to b.) unsettled by the combinations and manipalations of a few audacious and unscrupulous •peculator, however powerful.
The immense increase in the Gladstonian vote in several recent elections has created a panic in the ranks of the Unionists. The ministiy, it is said, under this influence will modify the government's Irish policy. The absence of dynamite outrages in this crisis is sure to brirg victory to the Irish causa. A few dynamite explosions would have checked the popular rising against the new coercion law and theministiy would apparently be sustained by public opinion. As it is public opinion revolts from the government's policy of oppression and in time will give Ireland home rule.
"The citiz ns of Broadrie township, six miles west of Oakland, 111., are very much scared over the presence of a large wild animal which has made its appearance in that locility," says the Chicago News. If the News had a more intimate acquaintaacs with news sources at Oakland it uld know that the people in that vicinity are not nearly so much troubled by the preBencs of "a larjte wild animal" as by the presence of a ".-peciil correspondent" who, without exception, has the most vivid imagination of any "special" that impost8 on the metropolitan press. Thtra is but one other who approaches him but this other being a God-fearing man will not send bald faced lies broadcast. He contents himself with rehashing stale news, occurrences so stale that the news editors accept them ae fresh morsels.
Two or three Naw York gtmblers (of the Wall street variety) concluded that there is dagger of a panic, and the Cleveland secretary of the treasury immediately issues an order to anticipate the interest on the public debt, due September 1st and January l3t, that he may thus relieve the pressure. A? a banker of this city remarked last nig'it, why not do something for the relief of the faro dealers in this city who are beginning to find money matters a little ''tight" for them? Latthe Wall street gamblers have a panic among themselves and if three or fjur hundred of them fail the country will be the gainer. Wall street panics no longer aflect the country in general. There have been dozens of them in the past few years in which .the excited correspondent in formed the outside public that the shock was as great as the on the memorable Black Friday, but the country in general has not experienced any reverberation. If Secretary Fairchild, a Wall street bred man, intends to regulate the finances of the country on the dictation of a stock quotation ticker, he will soon discover that he is doing nothing more or less than playing into the hands cf Wall street gamblers.
The new nigh license law in Minneapolis is working even better than its friends expected. Already the city treasury has received $196,000 from the $1,000 licenses issued, and it is expected that thirty more will be taken out. The saloonkeepers have organized to co-oper-ate with the authoritses to see that the law is enforced. There will be 200 less saloons. but those forced out of business are the one3 that do the most injury to the morals of the city. The city collector of Chicago says:
Under the operation of the high license law in Chicago the revenue derived from saloons licensee has increased from $200,COO per annum to nearly $2,000,COO. The fo.mer rate was $52 per annum. It is now $500. Under the old rate thew re in 1832 nearly 4,000 saloons in the city. There are now 3,900, not a very signal diminution in number apparently, but it ia to ba remarked in explanation that the oity .s grown eaormously in populaticn and in business elnce 1832, and, moreover, a considerable area of territory has since been added. I am persuaded that had the former low license prevailed up to the present there would have baen fully 6,000 saloons in Chicago. An additional significant fact is that the brewers, who largely control and inflaence the saloon traffic, actually pey the licensee for, I should say, one-half the saloons. This is done by way of advancee, or accommodation. Wore the brewers to refnse their aid and decline to advance the money to pay saloon licenses, I am sa iefied the teenlt would be 1,000 fewer saloons in the city.
The collector also says that his information ij that high licence has operated to diminish considerably the consumption of spirituous liquors in the city.
This is the testimony that comes from every city where high license has been introduced. Indeed, not even the Prohibitionists have been able to make a showing that high license anywhere has not ducMMed tha evil of temperance. Th*

financial benflt is almost inestimable. Here in Terre Haute, where it has jnst been fonnd necessary to increase the tax rate, the benefit would be must appreciably felt. The city council could not do a wiser thing than by fisicg a license of several hundred dollars on the sa'oons. In this consideration it should be remembered that Terre Haute Las no license at all.

According to the constitution of the clnb there are to be three races each ye ir: First, a one mile race to take place in May second, a twenty-five mile race for the long distance championship, to take place in September third a twelve mile handicap road race. Two of the three have already been run, and the twenty-five mile race will occur late in the year. Ihere is also to be a medal given for the most number of mile* ridden. Fred Probst will probably win this.
The Home club has about completed arrangements with the Agricultural society in regard to the races at the fair. The racing board has prepare 1 a list of ten races which the members of the club are compelled to enter. Among them are a team rsce, one-mile spin, one mile novice,, two-mile club championship, three-mile club championship, and others. The team race will be a very good feature, as there are to be six teams and the best riders have been distributed amone them. The object in having these races is to make up the loss incurred id giving the tournament.
Ed and Anton Hulman have been threatened with prosecution for frightening a team on the national road, and the Indiana Division of the A. W. has decided to look into the matter. The accident happened some time ago as the boys were riding near the fair grounds, directly behind Mr. G. W. Bement who was in his carriage. Mr. Bement signaled them to go ahead and they passed at very good speed. In front of Mr. Bi mens's buggy was another which they had not seen, and their wheels frightened these horses, causing tham to damage the baggy. The boys dismounted when they saw the horses were rearing, but too late to prevent the accident.
Aliens.
New Hayek, Conn., August 2.—A similar movement to thst recently start, ed in Boston on the part of Eaglish alien and non-voting residents to secure political recognition and to obtain the rights which other people enjoy, has been started in this city. There are said to be 4,000 Englishmen in this city, and only 500 of them are voters. They will become naturalized as rapidly as possible, so as to enjoy the right of suffrage. They are mostly disposed to favor the nominee of tbe Repub!ican|party in 1883, but are almost universally against Blaine. A similar movement is on foot in Meriden, where there are about 2,000 aliens who may become voters.

The suit is brought to sfcure Use appoint msbt of a receiver, who will be instructed to levy assessments on tbe stockholders who have withdrawn ftom the asscciatioo, with which to pay indebtedness. Mr. Siyre claims that all building and loan stoca is a liability of the association by which it is issued His clients have not surrendered their stock, and there is but $10 53 in_the treasury for each of the thirty-eight ot the shares held by them which cost $96 per share. Tne par value of stock was $200 per share and there were 1,000 shares. The defense will deny tbat the stock is a liability and on this point the fight will be made.
