STATE BICYCLE TOUR.

The Hout.e That Will Be Travelled Over —The Start To-day at Loganspoit. The fourth annual tour of the Indiana Division of .the L. A. W. commences today, and as near as can be estimated there will be about one hundred wheelmes in line. The course over which the tour ex'ecdi contains as fine road and as beautiful scenery as can be found in the state. The start will be ifiade from Lv ganeport and the iccipal cities possed through are Frankfort, Waveland, Rockville, Clinton, L-\Fayette, Crawfurdtville, and tne Shades of Deatb, half day st'ps being made at the 1 atte? three placcs. The average distance travelled per day wi'l be about thirtyeight miles, making it possible for any rider of ordinary ability to par ticipate. A wagon for baggage will accompany the tcurist. Oa the afternoon of July 12 the tourists will arrive in this city, and on the 13th theTfirst annual meeting cf the home club will be held. Meserv A ton Hulman and Frank Fis beck left ye te day afternoon for Logansport to represent the club on the tour. On the 12.h a large delegation will go to Clinton and. accompany the wheelmen to tbis city.

Charles Crain has enterel for the half mile state championship Ed H'llman, the three-mile inter state championship Anton Hulman, the two-mile state cham pionsbip and Calder and Probst have determined to enter the half mile ride and run.

Hull fCk-Nowliu Nopttul*.

Wednesday Bradford A. Bullock, of Br»zi', and Miss Hat ie Nowlin, of this city, made known to their friends the fact that they have been married far more thsn two monihs. Last term Profet8~r Bullock was principal of the Carbon pr.hools and Mi-s Nowlin taugth at Knigbtaville. It seems that the5th May had been named as the happy day, but as both schools contirtied over that date, and as they were willing to postpone so important a'i event, they cidrd to wed quietly and Fay nothing about it until their schools closed. They were accordingly united by the Rev. Mr. Towne, of the Centenary Church on the dey named, and unlike most parlies concerned in tl'iirs of the kind, succeeded in keeping it quiet. Miss Nowlin's school closed June 17, tince which time she has been at home, preparing hfr parents, by degrees, for the final de uouement of yesterday. Mr. :llock bas accepted a position at $1,200 er year, of an Indianapolis firm, as traveling representative, and Mrs. Bullock will travel with him this summer. The hap-» ...... py pair left for Craw fords villa Wednes- «borthand and on type-writer, dsy afternoon, followed bj* the warm congratulations and hearty good-wishes of their many friends.

Death tne Friendly Inn. The 6 months-old child of Dora Yo'ing di*dat the Friendly Inn at 5 o'clock yesterday morning. Tha mother was on a drunk on the Fourth and abused her infant. The pilica were notified and took the baby away from her and placed it under the care of the matron at the inn. Upon Several occasions complaints were made to the police that the Yourg woman cruelly treated her infant. Tbe mother livison South Six and a Half street, near 8wan. There is talk of her arrest ai prosecution. Certainly such outrageous treatment of a babe should mot be allowed to pass without i'.s proper punishment.

Milk Inspector..

There seems to be complaint all over the city about the quality of milk offered for use by the dairymen. Slid a gentleman of the east end yesterday "A ailk inspector should be appointed by the council immediately and steps taken to improve the quality of the milk oflered for use. At present we are getting an awful quality. Changing milkmen does not help the matter, for one is aa bad as another."

The Arthur Monument. Funds are being raised in a quiet manner for a statue of the late President Arthur, to be erccted in Madison Square, thu city. It is proposed to speed about $30,000 on tbe monument.

More than half of this money has already befn collected by a commit1^, which Cornelius N. Bliss is ela man. The remainder will be raised, it i« expected, wiihin a month. In tin's city, where his worth was known acd appreciated long before he wtnt to Washington, the tubscripiious lave naturally been most freely made. In fact, the project for a monumtm in this city arose from the fact that several thousand more than was necessary were subscribed for a monument in tbe Albany cemetery, where he is buried. The surplus was then made the nucleus for a fund for a monument in this city, and it will not be many days before the entire amount is subscribed.—[New York Correspondence Philadelphia Press.

The Cowl Safe.

The peace and free use of tie city was offered the cow last -night. The supernumeraries whose eepecial duty it is to look after her were assigned to legular duty, the mayor was at home, and the marshal was nowhere to be seen. The weather also grew more pleasant than his b?en known for come time in this locality. Indeed a aoid opportunity was offered the cow to "get in her work," and if she did not take the chance no one was to blame. A north end gentlema a was awakened recently by the i}und of burglars it was supposed, but on tx amination found a cow eating in his garden. He left her in peace at a distance of two iquares from his house.

Prevalent Opinion of Ohio Girls. A girl in Ohio was pulling on her stockings the other day when one of them slipped, "throwing her rrm against her chin, making her bite her tongue ofi." This :s a pretty good fish story, but there is a prevalent opinion that Ohio girls sit on the floor at the first stage of their toilets, and it is hard to conceive how the accident occurred without kicking a hole through the plastering.—[El Paso (Tex.) Inter-Re-publics.

Atklng a New Tri„l.

The attorneys for George Durham, in the replevin suit brought by Will Shannon for possession of a mare formerly the property of Patrick Shannon, made a motion for a new trial before Judge Allen, and the case was argued yesterday. The queition of admissabilitv of some of the evidence was raised. Judge Allen has not passed upon the motior.
