ROCKVILLB MATTERS.
The Effort to Secure Natural GM—Tb« BtUltary Valr. Special to the Elpreaa.
BOCETILLK, April 27.—The prospectors for natural gu have reached depth of 150 feet. The drill it now go* ing throu«b lime alone reck at the rate of fifty to eighty feet per day. It is a task to gel the contractors to talk about their work, and an outsider Is kept ia the dark. The gas company is kept posted as the work progresses and if the unknown should be found, of course something will "drop." Large teftl istaie purchases will he made and Wichita prices may be the output. All are wailing to heer wbat the result will be. So far the drilling Lafi not beeu uiamd by sccidents, and it is wcc^erful to see how the *r.'Hd rock pulverized. The military fair and carnivel closed its three nighta' engagement Saturday. It
was
the largest
entertainment of its kind erer given in Korkville, and considering the gloomy week it passed through was mora than liberally patronized by our citizens. The receipts were $340, and the boys will clear over $200. The splendid ice cream was made by Gilbert, of Tern Haute and many gallona of It sold. The refreshment stand was under control of Mrs. Clinton Mnrphy, and vu a success. The fine art department was superintended by Mrs. f. R. Whipple and wsg replete with beautiful paintings, etc. It was most artistically arranged and light of the gas presented a brilliant scene. The relic bootb, with Mrs. John J. Safely, in charge was one of much beautv and study. It contained Indian articles of great value, specimen rocks of Colorada, moss from Australia, revolutionary guns sttd Bwords, and hundreds of other relics, too many to mention here. The arrangement of this department created much oomment showing Mrs, Safely has talent for pei feet ing displays. The fancy art booth under charge of Mrs. .TameJ Meacham was one of wonderful beeuty. Tbe many pieces 0! wotk planed oil the sides of the walls shimmering and shining in the light caught the eyes of ail and consequently her room was always crowded with admiring spectators. Tbe Persian booth', with Mrs. Charles Stevenson In contitiand, was completed with all kinda of Persian articles from boots down to the doll bsbv and idol. This display WM foreign^ anli of course closely Viewed. The gypsy tent was a wonderful place and created much fun. The programme rendered from the stage each evening Was vocal solos, overtures by orchestra, fan acd spear dril a, cadet drill and fancy zouave drill by artillery team. The music was in the charge of Miss Madge Eice and highly rendered. Miss Emma Allen, of Terre Haute, Miss Mary Thompson, of Crawfordsvillet Miss Lucy Allen, Mrs. Wm. McEwsn, of liockvilie, and all Who so cheerfully aided in the success of the carnival have the h«art-felt thanks of the military biiys for their encouragement ahd they will ever remember their kindness. The baby show Saturday afternoon called oat a large crowd, and Mrs. Will Allen carried ot) the prize with her girl baby. The various prizes awarded for premiums were all taken. To the business men again, the boys say thanks.

The breath of a chronic catarrh patient is often so offensive that he cannot go into fciety and he Ue3onies an object of disgust. After a time ulceration sets in, tbe spongy bones are attacked, and frequently entirely destroyed. A constant eource of discomfort is the dripping of the purulent secretions into the throat sometimes producing inveterate bronchitis, which in ita turn has been the exciting cause of pulmonary disease.
