Several witnesses were exansined, including I red Sbew maker, t)ie engineer of Burke's train. The verdict wi'l be that Burke's death was r.ot (4ue to th« carelessnetB or neg ligence of either of the train crew.
The funeral of the dead brakemau will occur from St. Patrick's church this morning at!) o'clo k. Jt was hoped by many of th? railroad era ployls that the funeral would be deferred tintii to- uorrow so that they could attend. A large number of railrnnd employes from Danville, where Biirke formerly worked, will be present.
Tbe story that one of the amputated limhi of the dead hrakeuian was found in the ('. iV Iv I. yard yesterday is found to be wholly untrue. Said Mr." Jefl Welch, yardtiiastcr of the ('. A 10. officers and members of the general as sembly, and members of tbe executive and judicial departments of the state, without consent of the speaker.
The speaker announced to the house that Governor Gray's message had been submitted to the house. Mr. Kellison moved that tho cl^rk be directed to read it. Mr. Stack moved that a ccruniitteo of two be appointed to notify the senate that the house was ready to receive tbem to bear the message, and Mr. Keynolds offered a further amendment that 1,000 copies of the message be printed ami copies be laid on the desks of members. The last proposition was defeated. Mr. Griffiths moved to lay on the table the amendment providing for the appointment of a committee to wait upon tbe senate, and this was lost, after which the house took a recess until aftornoon.
HERE AND THERE.
The Link case Irom the first has attracted a great deal of attention, perhaps owing to the fact that the disappearance of the old man was under such mysterious circumstances. The police are still al work on the case nd there may be some developments in a few days. The investigation, thus far, is not in such condition that it can be given to the public. The old man's dog has figured c^nspiciioutly in the case. The other day when tho premises were searched for the missing man, the dog was procured and nkeu to the sand bank near the river. He ran down to'the river and stopped on the bank mar where an Express reporter and Officer John Voit had been but a short time previous. The dog has been noticed to have done this repeatedly since the old man's disappearance, and this leads to the belief on the part of somo that the body is in the river. The water at the bar in the river near 0 Terr3 Haute is only about afoot and a half or two feet deep al the proaent time, and in case the body is in the river and floats down stream it is txpccted that it will probably be caught on tne bar. The river is still frozen over aad search for the body is impracticable.
There was another beautiful array of female faces in the prisoner's bcnchcR yesterday morning, in Police court. The crowd of females numbered six, and were all arrested early Thuridday night at Mrs Lehigh's restaurant, and dive, on Main street between Eighth and Ninth streets. Among these arrested were Mrs. Lc'iigh and her daughter. Justice Wijdy fined them nil, and they were stayed. The police are making war on houses of bad character. It i:i to be hoped the work will proceed, and that all the houses will share the same fate us UIOGO which have been pulled within the par.t few days.
After llie diveH of llio city have becu broken up, ii wilj then be lime to inaugurate other reforms by the mote rigid enforcement of Ite )a\v.

Mr. Dyerson lies been engaged in looking up the organization' interests in this city for some time past and as above announced a court will be founded with a membership of over thirty.
