The wayfarer who happened to be on the street Tuesday night at seven minutes to 10 o'clock was well repaid for whatever trouble or misfortune it was that had kept him from his fireside and household gods. A rainbow spanned the beaveas, stretching from the soutfewest to the northwest part of the horriz in and the arch or tip of the bow reaching an ascension of more than forty-five degrees. The bow itst-lf was distinct, but the orismatic colors were not welt marked. In appearance it was a gliramer, a bright sheen well defined upon the bosom of he dark cloud, and presenting visible traces of at least three of the strongest rainbow colors. Tbe moon, a few days past the full, shone in full splendor from a clear sky W the east. A heavy cloud that chot up froir the west reached the meridian overhead and faded off to hazy fleece on both the north and south and tit ere was a very slight rainfall. The scene was strikingly beautiful snd lasted for several minutes.
