Shivering Employes.
The city building occupied by his honer, the mayor, the ciiy treasurer, clerk, engineer and police department not to mention the city council—is literally an ice box, and the employes in the offices mentioned, including the day and night force are raising loud protestations and heaping anathemas upon the heads of the contractors to whom was awarded, early in the season, the contract for heating the "market house," the contractors agreeing, under bond, to have the apparatos placed in good working order by the time "cold weather should commence. At present the boilers are in the basement and the beaters are standing, on an angle, against the walls in the various offices, while the men employed about the building shiver with oold. The police on doty last night in the building, when mercnrjUook a sudden turn toward the bottom of the thermometer, have especial reason to demand a speedy fulfillment of the terms of the contract.
