OLD COBWEB HALL,
Like the sweet lute like notes from farborne, the lost Atlantic come To quiet the youthful ear with mystic days of pleasure yet to rum, Where no mocking siren lingers along the polished wall, To mar the pleasure of old Cobweb hall, Where no tinsled glory gleams its shat'red ravs from a paper sun, Who's high-priced gilded frame for tells its low-priced rum, Where polished marble gleams its halow from the burnished wall, Is no place seen in old Cobweb hall. He Went to Washington fcr Pleasure, and Not for Office. Mr. Newton Bogers returned from Washington Thursday, where be was for nine days. "To be blunt, Mr. Rogers," said an Express reporter, "what office do you expect "I expect nothing. I went to Washington on business and pleasure." "Don't want office." "No, sir." "What are Captain May's chances he is captain since he got to Washington, according to the dispatches." "He wants a consulate and will probably get one. I think his chances are good. I enjoyed myself in Washington. I am about the only Indiana democrat who has gone to Washington daring the present administration who didn't go there seeking office. I enjoyed myself, visited all the points of interest, and come home feeling happy."
A letter was received from Washington yesterday by a gentleman of this city announcing that Mr. May has been promised the early appointment to the consulate at Cologne, Germany.
