Bose Council,-No. 153, National Union, will bold a meeting to-night at G. A. B. hall for the purpose of electing officers for the ensuing term.
Last night the city marshal, with assistance, arrested the inmates xt the notorious "Lookout" house, situated in the vicinity of the gas works.
The Occidental Literary association is pre' paring for a select dancing entertainment, to given at the association hall on the evening of the 28th inst.
Late last night a plunge was heard in the river at the foot at Main street, preceded by a loud scream. Investigation failed to afford an explanation, and an air of mystery will therefore linger about that! locality.
Thomas .Harding, a railroad brakeman from Indianapolis, fell in the Vandalia yards yesterday afternoon, and striking his face agairst the end of a tie, broke his nose and severely cat his cheek. He is stopping with friends on east Chestnut street.
Murium Hammond's establishment, corner Second and Poplar, was raided late last night and the proprietor, with all the inmates, mele and female, taken to jail. Bond was furnished at a late hour and the women were released. Four of the six visitors were locked up.
A 'boat containing two small boys—Charles and Dennis Mahoney, whoeo parentis reside on Water street, was overturned near John's boom yesterday, and but for the assistance of Mr. Joe Seely they would have been drowned. As it was, they were thoroughly dampened and very much frightened when helped oat ef the water.
A team attached to a light baggy in which was seated Mr. James Daggett, ran away on south Third street yesterday evening. When near the colored M. E. church, theyran against a pest and tipped the vehicle over, throwing the oocupant to the sidewalk. Beyond demolishing the top of the buggy and braising Mr. Dagjgatt quite painfully, no serious damage wasfdone. Mr. Daggett lives in Sugar Creek
