The Clinton' base ball club will play the Eugene club a return game on the 26th inst. There is talk of arranging for band tournament about that time or a little later. Dr. McMeen removed his family to Danville the latter part of this week. Miss Alice will teach in the Danville city schools. Thus Eugene looses one of her most respected families. MONTEZUMA, August

15.—Paymaster

Mr. Nay, of the I-. D. & S. distributed the checks to the boys for July service on Saturday morning. A. J. McAllister, of Rockville, is canvassing for Grant's Personal Memoirs here and is meeting with gratifying success. Dr. Harrison has a kind-

hearted little son who fed his

fine buggy horse a large apple on Wednesday, choking the horse and now the doctor is $150 poorer in consequence. Mrs. Robert Smith, an old lady of this place, on Thursday last while crossing a cattle guard on the railroad, tripped and fell, cutting a gash on her forhead and severely injuring her otherwise. Orange blossoms are now blooming

in

olaces here and Express readers will enow who in a few days. The Rev. Father Coffey, has been placed in charge of the Catholic congregations here and at Rockville and will hereafter hold regular services at both places. Montezuma has at last found an editor and publisher who is able'to make both ends meet and make his paper pay. The Reporter started six months ago without a subscriber and has now a paying basis of subscribers and advertising. Though somewhat too spicy for all it is taking like hot cakes. The dwelling of James Owens, at Hillsdale, was fired by an incendiary at 10 o' clock on Friday night, and despite all efforts was entirely consumed. Loss,$600 insured for $400. No clue to the perpetrator.

A
