The New Medical Law. j* "Out medical society," said Dr. Henry Jameson an Indianapolis News reporter, "has submitted to the attorney general the question of tbe right of the county clerk to charge $4.50 for a certificate instead of $1.50, as is expressly provided by the new medical law. We regard .the extra charge, which Mr. McLaln proposes to make, as unjust and unauthorized, but I suppose that if Judge Hard says that they are all right we will have to pay tbem. The law, I think, will receive a cordial support from all the ,regular physicians of the city. It is not altogether as comprehensive and rigid as we Would have liked, but it will serve to driva oyt of Indiana traveling quacks and charlatans, who do much more harm than good.

It was finally agreed that the company should not ask the'SObscribers -te'bign the new contract until there was an agreement reached, which would last until the courts pass upon the constitutionality of the law. The Journal yesterday morning had a calculation, based on the best information obtainable, that the "plant" of the company in that city cost them $63,000, and that the annual cost of operating it is about $2$,000, exclusive of rent of building, taxes, insurance, etc., and that its revenue from the rental of 1,023 instruments, at $60 a year, is $61,509, which would leave a considerable margin for profit.
