At a meeting of triink line man#gers: .tald at iri^ara Falls 'thiiraday, the question of a restoration of eist-bound freight rates was'discussed, and finally it was decided to advance rates, July loth, to the tariff which went into effect April 6th. Yesterday freight line agent* apprised of the action of the ni ana orders were given not to conuAcf lor any freight shipmeiits ifter theI3th. at the rates at present prevailing. The new tariff will be 20. cents to New York, 555 cenU to BoetcB» 1$ cents to Philadelpma and"17 cents to Baltimore. These are the rates from Chicago, but TerrwHaute is governed by the rates there, afld hence the same tariff "Will go into effect here.

At last rates have peeh advanr' it •fftma thai ohe ol thfe uioet disflstxuus rate^ wars tlmt Hay* i^S&ed to ^finally been ended, and the "liferent lines will now go to work to regain all that has been "lost by the demoralization.• Through the depression of business and increased -depression by rate cutting a number.of roads were abtitaton their last legs and gave up the ^fii'ht be^ cause of ezhausion, in fact, all the -roads were suffering. more or. less from wasted resources, it is altog ^er proBaWb. that th^ twenty cent rate will be maintained, ai 80Dse of the lines have taught a severe lesson or at leastthejr should have been ta«gbt it. The prospects although hot exceedingly bright are encouraging. It will not be a long time until the new civ^s tegin moving and this is looked forward to as 9]stiinuleBt to fx -ght traffic, irad ?10..doubt it will prove t" ,be quite an effetAiylone. 1

There is a somewhat heavier business, being done by all the roads entering this city. The.Vandalia reports business fair. Local business on the main line and T. H. A L. is said to be picking up to a limited extent. *-The I. & St. L. is doing a better busing. The Chicago & Eastern Ilunofe, while not doing a very heavy business, enjoys fnlly.as heavy a traffic as last year. This speakB well for, ihe road and its management* The E. & T. H. and its branch, the T. H. & S. E,, are both hauling a fair amount of freight. The Illinois Midland's report of the condition of business is more encouraging than any of the rest. Local traffic has literally taken a boom, "and through business is developing. A railroad man -was asked if the 4th of July'inade any perceptible increase in business. He replied that it did not, and that it was never noticed. Inquiry at the express companies' offices resulted in obtaining information that business for some time past }ias increased but not to any very great extent.

?Wg the li§rif Chronic diseases nfeieh effect th^ baman frame, Catan-h is the'most prevalent, fliosl offensive otiI most productive of discofflfrfti and of a variety of distressing and dangerous complications.

Its earliest and most prominent •ytoytoials a discharge from the head, yafying ia it* faatare indifferent cases, and even in the same i^vlduals at different times. It may be ft thin coloroirfd fluid*, or a glary, starch-like aahstance. Generally, however, it is a thick purulent or mucn-purulent mattef, eittwr ash-color, greenish yellow or a deep green tint occasionally •tfeaked or Wrecked with blood. So oopldus and offensive is the discharge in many c^sea! that the patients express their belief that their heads are one mass of corruption. "HAWKING" itatt of tfife' discharge passes baokward, either dropping Into the throat or collecting as a tough, viscid tanacioulr phlegm, behind and above the soft palate, in the passage between tio throat and the head. Its lodgment cjjpb&rr&gjges respiration, and creates a (tthsttfnrand almoBt resistible desire to reltete the discomfort by drawing the offensive substance-into the throat by a lotid insaflation through the nose^ atf as then to be nble to eject by a disjt flj^feeable "hawking.

OfFElfSItJJ BEMTMr sfiij|A" the more advanfeed stages the dis* jtSrg6S are generally of an offettaive oaor, causing gW&t annoyance to one's to the patient himself,

While his-sen&e of ^mell remains. This annoyairc^ from the odor becomes almost beyond endurance, more especially" when the disease assumes tl^e forii) of Ozssna, and the dfelicate bOiies of the nose become diseased,

causing indigestion, loss of

atite and health. Debility, deafness, iness, lassitude, headache and disurbance of mind soon follow. In some instances the mental affections is one ol irritaibility, the patient being unduly annoyed by all the little perplexities of life. In others the prominent feelingtis that of melancholy and depression Of spirits, when the invalid can see no hope in the future for himself or bis affairs. CONSUMPTION AND} DEATH.

Catirrh affections unchecked by treatmphs are prone to extend-by conii^ace along the natural air passagei to the substance o| the lungs, thus causing consumption and death. In this connection it should also be remembered that the air wihch enters tire lungs of a catarrhal patient is, every breath of it, poisoned.by exhalation? I:cm the foul secretions of th«dJseatec* aurface. Bv such air tha blood, cannot be properly purified and made fft tc .mpart healthy vigor in its unending''circuit to all and-Overy part of! th#«nimal mechanism. One would ^p^ose that this consideration alone would lie sufficient to induce every person thus afflicted to make-early appliefloon lor relief.^11

TREATMENT AND CURE. By the system of treatment which Or. Nicholls has adopted and pursued fier years with nniform success, a com--plate and rrrmanent cure of this.reiulsiye die fuer can be effectftiv This «has demonstrate in thousands of ka««, representi&<g the disease in every form and/J^ its various stages o| ddyelopt^ej^? His apjdications are oiade to reatf M* deceased parts in, the niorft direct and positive manner, inatahtaiueously penetrating every cell «nd cavity of tha head communicating witli the^iostrils, and subjecting every porSonof themembrane to the healfng. yJaon. of the remedy employed, with the most beneficial results, and without causing the leaBt pain or unpleasant sensation.:-

So effective is this plan of medicadon'that a single application is generally productive of decided relief. Th« affected cavities are .thoroughly cleansed from encrusted morbific matter, the offensive smell is removed, and relieve from other troublesome symptAwia \n almo&t immediately experi-, enced.
