THE RAILROADS.
Th© Workings and Doings of Bailrpads and Their Employes.
Change In Service.
There has been a general change of the employes who occupy clerkships in the Vandalia auditor's office. The appointment of Traveling Auditor Coleman to the agency of the Terre Haute & Logansport road at South Bend is the underlying cause. Mr. John Theobold, chief clerk in the passenger department of the auditor's office) will succeed Mr. Coleman as traveling auditor, and Mr. Harry Creager will assume the resigned duties of chief clerk. 'This promotion will affect every clerk next proceeding aod vacate the lowest position which Mr. Channcey Pointer has been selected to fill.
«wTender Talk.
"How are you, old buffer?" said the tender to the railway tar. "Do not couple me with any such language, you sooty little wretch you have been drinking on the road again," replied the car. "Don't get off the track and break me up so, it was only a tender remark, you know you are always following me all over the country,' retorted the other. "I have a great mind to speak to your tooter on the lqcomotive there," said the car. The locomotive, who had been quietly smoking, fired up at this as if it was about to join in the raillery, but the belle of the train began to wag her fongue, and the engineer pulled them all out of the depot so suddenly that the locomotive felt its head light. ...

Pool Points.
General managers and other general officers of the Chicago and Ohio Eiver pool lines in their meeting at Chicago disputed about the differential rate on passengers between Chicago and Indianapolis and Chicago and Cincinnati demanded by the Danville route (Chicago & JSastern Illinois and Indiana, Bloomington & Western). A late award by the arbitrator did away with this ferential rate, but the JP.anville rq*V^k have it, and continued to 'jthe differentials off. *j£\
