Edgar Summers has wfeurned home from Martinsville, where she was visiting relatives. Wm. Whaley and wife have returned from their visit to Montezuma, Ind. Mrs. Patrick Conoley died Saturday, rather suddenly and unexpectedly. She was quite an old lady. Her remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery yesterday. Yesterday Bert Shippard was presented with a beautiful Bible at the Congregational Sunday school for bringing in the largest number of new scholars during the last few months. Mr. Baldwin, of Michigan City, Ind., was the giver of the Bible. A few months ago he gave a little talk before the Sunday school, and said he would give a bible to the scholar who brought in the most new ones by Jan, 1. Bert was the lucky one. T. A. Anderson and his son Harry visited in 8t, Louis Saturday.*—— Chet Colton has disposed of his Southside poultry house and moved in with Price & Co. on the north side. Charley Griffith and wife, of Terre Haute, spent Sunday in the city with relatives..——Dolson Bros, are contemplating the sale of their undertaking establishment.——Mrs. John' Marvin has been ill for some weeks, but is now improving.— -This it the week of prayer, and services will be held alternately in the Christian, Congregational and Methodist churches. The Followells and Willie Christmeyer were brought before the court thiB morning, but their case was continued and they were, remanded back to jail.

He steps higher than usual. -Oliver Cook leaves next week to visit his grandmother, in Mechanicsburg, O., the occasion being her 100th birthday. -Theodore Wilson, of Grandview this county, was adjudged insane Saturday last and sent to Anna. He attempted to use a shot gun on his brother's family. Editor Jaquith, of the Times, is in Springfield looking after his chances as clerk of the house. If he fails of election he will be the first Paris man that has failed to "get there Eli." Deputy United States Marshall John Moore is also in Springfield. He wants to be sergeant at arms of the senate and seems to be solid with all the Republican senators. He has been there before and knoWs how to work the wires. Revival meetings are in progress in the M. E. dhurch.
