corn crop in this neighborhood is safe and will be a splendid yield. The late rains have been of great benefit to the farmers in enabling them to get in their wheat. The Edgar County Democrat, afser an existence of two months, has gone up Salt river, where it will welcome the Democrats in November. Work on the new Journal building is proceeding rapidly. It has a fine stone front and when finished will be the finest business block in the city* Henry S. Mitchell, a son of Rev. R. A. Mitchell, died of consumption on Friday. He was in the Bhoe business with his brother in EvanBville, Ind. Mrs,' Wright, highly esteemed lady of this town, died 'dn Wednesday, after along ana painful illness. The Rev. H. G. Wass was visiting his father here last week.——Miss Josie James, of Kansas City, Mo., is visiting oldtime friends in this place. Th® Rev. Mr. Wood has been returned to this charge from conference. Z. T. Bowles, of thiB place, has received the contract for building a large barn on the farm of Eli Zink, near Dudley. M.
