NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS.
Meeting at Monteauma—Also at Vermillion—A Grand Demonstration at Bockvillo. Bpeeial to ttie Express.
MOHTKZUMA, Ind., September 17.— The Hon. A. J. Beverage spoke here last night to an immense audience at our Opera hotel. There was good order and close attention till .the close. Mr. B. is a fluent and able speaker and though young is ususuallyj well informed on the past as well as the present history of our country. The homestead, the tariff and the national finances, were each and severally dwelt upon in a masterly way. The arguments given were logical and well connected. Prominent men of both parties were brought out in review and their acts as public men possed upon. Mr. Beadle's free trade theory was taken up and its fallacy Bhown. The occasion was enlivened by the Galloway Glee club of Newport, who sang several of their best songs in good style, and were rapturously applauded-. The Republicans hera are wide awake and jubilant. The news from Maine coupled with many accessions from the ranks of the enemy have rejuvenated them and they are confident of success. General good order was observed at thiB meeting, only one "Mossback" attempting to disturb the speaker.
VKRMiLLioi?, 111., September 17.— Last night a very large crowd of o*r citizens and several from neighboring points assembled in our school house trove and were presented with the poetical points of the day by the Hon. William B. Jewell, of Danville, 111. His speech, though lasting over two hours, was listened to with marked attention. His principal subject was the tariff, which he handled in suoh away as to convince big audience that he "knew whereof he spake." If the Democrats expect to get a single vote in this township except those of the "Mossbacks," they will have to trot out their best into these parts. The audience was agreeably entertained by most excellent singing by the colored Glee club of Paris, meeting ended with three rousing cheers for Jewell, and three more for James G. Blaine, our next president.
The campaign begins to get warm On Monday evening the prohibitionists held a meeting in this place, when the speaker, by making a few unwise remarks, cauBed Uncle Jo® Kilgore, our old war-horse," to reply to hin^ When he Bat down the house cheered him loudly, much to the discomfiture of the prohibitionist speaker.
On Tuesday evening, the 23d mat. the Hon. J. G. Cannon, our M. 0. from this district, will address our citttens. Come all and hear him. Music by the colored Glee club of Paris.
ROCKYILLK, Ind., September 18.—An immense Blaine and Logan club was organized Monday evening, with membership of nearly one hundred, Hiram E. Hadley was elected president and J. W. Brown secretary. The meeting was one of great enthusiasm: and many first voters were present, besides some who bate heretofore been

They are charged with concealing stolen property. Next is Frank Daniels, a boy about 19 years old, arrested in Greencastle Monday and brought here yesterday. Last Saturday, at Bloomingdale, being quite hungry and wanting to know the time of day he walked up the I. B. He then Bkipped, and was captured as stated- He had served
on the Democratic side. Hon. Edward, C.Snyder, candidate for judge, was present and enlivened the occasion with an appropriate speech, which was highly appreciated by the club. Following him Frank M. Howard, our candidate for re-election as prosecutor, was called on and increased the enthusiasm in a telling fifteen minutes' speech. The club has new uniforms and have selected Charley Boudinot as captain of the escort, who will make a fine officer and see that the boys are up in drill.
Arousing Republican meeting was held Tuesday night. The escert, numbering over fifty, in their bright, new uniforms, were out for the first time, under the efficient command^ of Captain Charles Boudinot and Lieutenant Wallace Brown. The procession formed in front of the Park bank, headed by the Opera house band and Strain Dyson's martial band, assisted by Hannon Jiros., of Sugar Creek township, marched down Jefferson street, thence up York street to Market, and made a circle of the square, stopping at the court house. There were fully fifteen hundred people who witnessed the procession. At the court house the bands favored some fine music, then Hon. Paul Vandervoort was introduced by Henry
