Swift's Specific is a vegetable remedy, and restores the system to health and builds up the waste made by these poisons. "I was suffering with Blood Poison, and treated (several months with Mercury and Potash, only to make me worse. The Potash took away my appetite and gave mc dyspepsia, and both gave me rheuma Usui. 1 then took Sarsaparillas, etc. All these Sarsaparilhi mixtures have Potash in them. This made me still worse, as It di ovc the poison far' her into my system. A friend insisted I should take Swift's Specific, and it cured me of the Blood Poison, drove he Mercury and Potash out of my system, and to-day I am as well as I ever was."

Mont Casey, of Clinton, Tries to Shuffle Off His Mortal Coil—A Misguided Young Girl's Fate. Special to the Express.

CLINTON, Ind., June 30.r-The Cornelia took an excursion party from this place to Terre Haute on last Sunday. It- was under theauspiccs of Wm. H. Bishop and Evan Davis, and was not very largely attended Miss Dunbar, of Paris, 111., Is in town visiting, the guest of Miss Nettie Patterson Miss Rosa Johnson was in Chicago last Friday night taking in the sights M. L. Casey has severed his connection with the Clinton Herald, and in the future it will be Democratic in polltics. Mart Rogers has purchased the outfit and will manipulate the paper with his nimble fingers. Mart is a young man of good habits and we wish him success in his new undertaking Rev. H. L. Dickerson preached two sermons at this place last Sunday. If satisfactory arrangements can be made he will probably again become the pastor of the I're3by terian church at this place Miss Annie Washburn, who has just returned from school at De Pauw university, entertained a number of her young friends at her home on last Thursday evening Miss Sallie Keyes, of Dana, and Miss Dollie Scott, of this place, left for Springfield, Mo., last week, where they will probably spend the remainder of the summer Most of the farmers in this vicinity will finish cutting wheat in time to celebrate the Fourth. Quite a number talk of going to Eugene, where Joe. B. Cheadle, of the Frankfort Banner, and formally an attorney of this county, will deliver the address Miss Lulu Hupp, of KeuUir-ky, is in town visif lne relatives. She will remain here about two months The Herald Deacon on last Saturday, concluding that his earthly mission had been accomplished, and that it were folly to bear the whips and scorns of time the oppressor's wring, the proud man's contumely, the pangs of misprized love, etc.. "when he himself might his quietus make with a bare bodkin," planned an unbidden journey to that bourne whence no traveler returns. But that "respect which makes calamity of no long life" caused the fell destroyer to miss its mark and the deacon is still among his fallow mortals who prefer to bear the ills they have than lly to others that they know not of. That Mont has had trouble there can be no doubt, and how much of it has been self-imposed is not for others to sSy in the present status of affairs. While among us lie has edited a sprightly local paper, and his efTorts have not been unappreciated by our citizens. Mont has ability which if well directed and controlled would yet open to him a golden future. Take heart, young man, take heart and cherish the thought that life is worth living Our young dentist, W. R. Mail, has decided to pull up stakes and take up his departure for Vincennes July 7th, where a more ihr vitine prospect awaits him Mr. David McBetliand his little girl, Mabel, left last week for Charlevoix, Mich., where they will spend the summer Miss Celia Campbell departed this life on last Thursday night, aged about 18 years. The circumstances connecting with his untimely death are touchingly sad and melancholy. Celia was a bright and intelligent girl, but having no mother to counsel and advise her, accepted the attentions of a supposed friend—but real enemy—whose victim she bccame. On last Friday while her father was away from home, and no one about the house but herself she was taken down with puerpal convulsions. In this condition she was discovered by her neighbors, and continued to grow worse until Saturday night, when death frightful and ghastly in its most pleasing shape came like a gentle messenger from heaven to her relief. The child is still alive.

It is due the public that the 'spotter' should be thoroughly and widely advertised. His traits, his instincts, his vile vocation and his methodB of operation should all be known, so that he may be decently cursed and doubly damned by every honorable man in the land. In this connection we transfer to our pages the following in regard to the "spotter system" by a contemporary: "The public know little, almost nothing indeed,of the so called spotter system of working railroads. It is probable the ''spotter" and those who employ him, wish the public knew even ess. The ways of the "spotter" are dark and sinuous. He hides in the slime of the dirtiest filth holes, which he leaves only to pursue his sneaking occupation. He visits the office of his employer at the hour of midnight, so that none may suspect his relations between the two or that his despised and putrid carcass has been in close contact with respectability.

It is safe to take Brandreth's Pills at any time, but to get the best results they should be taken on an empty stomach, going to bed. It is well on the night you take them to eat little or no supper. As no two people are affected precisely the same by a like quantity of the same medicine, it is difficult to determine the dose and it is something which must be left to the discretion of the patients. We will say, though, the average dose for an adult is from four to ten, according to effect.

For constipation or dyspepsia, one or two taken every night will, in a short time, perform an absolute cure. It is well to take a purgative at least once or twice a month as a preventive of disease, and as these Pills are entirely vegetable, and are made with the greatest care, we know them to be the safest and ir.ost effective purgative ever introduced to the public. They have been sold in this country for over fifty years, and have in that time attained an unprecedented popularity.

This is tho iSth year since the establishment of the United States Medical Institute, first at Cleveland, now there is a branch office in most every state in tho Union and Canada. They employ only skilled, experienced, and successful physicians and surgeons, they must be graduates of some first-class college or this country and mombersof the royal college of physicians and surgeons, England, because the institution is in both countries. Persons who have" not succeeded to get cured by other physicians, should apply to us at once either personally or by letter, for most of the diseases that have been hitherto considered incurable we have in mose cases been successful In curing, for we cure cases every day that has beeD pronounced incurable by the bestof physicians, both In this country and other countries.
