Is your Life Worth a Dollar?

Perhaps that seems a high price for it, considering' how poor your bloocl is, and how your whole system i: •5 Prostrated.debilitated, and enfeebled.

People have been heard to say, under such circumstances, that they would not give the toss of a copper for the choice between life and death. But when it comes to actually

drawing

near the grave, a man naturally draws back, and says he does not want to die. Life is very precious, and even to a broken-down man it is worth saving.

One dollar will buy a bottle *o. Brown!s Iron Bitters. That one dol lar may start you on the road from misery to recovery. A man must take a very mean view of himself who is not willing to invest that much in making one serious effort to rescue himself from deadly debility, and to step into the enjoyment of solid health.

Brown! Iron Bitters

vital-

izes the blood, tones the nerves, and rebuilds the system. Its work ia well known. Invest that dollar in a bottle.

RAILWAY* MATTERS.

Items of Local and General Inest Concerning Railroads and Railroaders.

Steel Balls.

Road master Henry, of the I. & St. L., is thia week laying 500 tons of steel rails, which will make 8,000 tons since January 1. One who has not traveled over the I. & St. L. within the last year has no idea of the vast improvements. Chief Engineer Beach, of the Bee Line system, has recommended that hereafter the management purchase seventy-two pound steel rails to lay on all its main lines.

The Chicago A Great Southern. The Chicago & Great Southern bas a large force of laborers now engaged upon the road, and work of construction will continue throughout the winter. The grading is nearly- completed to Brazil. This road, it is said, bids fair to become one of the Louisville, New,. Albonv & Chicago's sharpest competitors for coal traffic. It is intimated that the latter road will make an attempt to secure control of it..

The Narrow Gang*.

The T., C. & St. L. road is reported to be in bad shape to enter the winter months, and there are railroad men of large experience who say if the winter is an open one, it would be better that the running of heavy trains be abandoned. The friends of the road have concluded that there is but three things to do—to reorganize at once (the^ bondholders advancing from two to three millions), or sell the road in separate divisions, and buy it in, or let the receivers work out its salvation

Proposed Road.

The Bluffton & Logansport Bailway company, which proposes to construct a road from Bluffton to Logansport, as an extension to the Wheeliug & Logansport railway, has completed an organization. A Bluffton special says "the composition of the board and the earnestness manifest along the entire line, and especially at Bluffton and Logansport, warrant the belief that at least eighty-five miles of new road will be built'n Indiana by the close of the next gammer."

Uniforms on the Vandalla. Before New Year the Vandalia will uniform its conductors, baggagemen, brakemen and train porters somtfwhat after the Pullman style, iu blue and gold. First suits are paid for by the company, and comes very much like New Year's

Note*.

The '-k Central will throw the iI iosa tV-..i.4 «.rl heir road M-Vrch 1st.

The WestingAir l'x'ake company has tleclar .i dividend of 20 per cent. 1'ri'tty {f-i'nl

It is stated that the Louisville, New

Albany & Chicago road will fall $98,000 short of paying its fixed charge* and operating expense out of ita earnings.

Indianapolis Journal: Colonel Harry Crawford yesterday made a trip over the Chicago & Indianapolia Air-line, traveling on a special. This trip gives ample room for speculation.

The Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul company is arranging for a change in the method of protecting freight from the ravages of thieves and dishonest employes. The old Bvstem of numbering tags and seals will be done sway with and a plain strip of tin used, in which the number of the station, date 6f shipments, etc., are stamped by the act of sealing with a pair of pincers made for the purpose. But one pair of each particular kind of pincers— different kinds to be furnished to the various stations—will be made. The St. Paul company used about 375,000 seals monthly.
