ESTABLISHED

BY TESTIMONY.

We wish to draw the attention of the reader to a few facts which we will afterwards confirm by tho most unimpeachable testimony. First, it is a fact that in thfs everclianging climate wo are one and all exposed to sudden heat and cold, bringing on chills, coughs and colds, which in their turn produce Asthma, Bronchitis, Ulcerated Sore Throat or-Consumption. It is a fact that Rheumatism is getting more prevalent every day, and has become chronic with many sufferers. It is a fact that Neuralgia renders tho exist ence of many thonsands a life of martyrdom. It is a fact that Catarrh has horrors that no one can form any conception of, except those who suffer. It is a fact that Croup carries more children to the grave than any other infantile disease. It is a fact that we are all liable to accidents, and may get hurt or cut, burned, scalded or bruised, however careful we may be and it is a fact that we are at all times subject to organic derangements of a serious nature, which too often terminate fatally. Theso are facts which bear no dispute. But the next fact is one of serious importance to tho public, for every one should know it. It is this, that

Thomas' Eclectric Oil

is a positive, reliable and certain cure for all the ailments enumerated, as well as for many others incident to the constitution, such as Stiff Joints, Swelled Neck, Sprains, Chapped Hands, Lame Back, Blind and Bleeding Piles, Chilblains, Frosted Feet, Pains in the Back or any part of the system. In fact, it is a remedy that stands paramount above all others. It is equally effective externally or internally, and all who have ever used it aro never without it.

These are facts which awj proved by the following testimony, which we challenge tho world to contradict:

A Baptist Minister's Experience. I am a Baptist minister, and before I ever thought of being a clergyman, I graduated In medicine, out left a lucrative praetico for my profession, forty year* ago. I wasfor many years a suflbrerfrom quinsy"Thomas' Eclectric Oil cured 1110." I was also troubled with hoarseness, and Thomas' Eclectric Oil always relieved me. Mv wife and child had diphtheria, and "Thomas Eclectric Oil cured them," and if taken in time it will euro seven times out of ten. I am confldost it is a cure for tho most obstinate cold, and if any one will tako a small teaspoon and half fill it with tho Oil, and then place the end of the spoon info tho head by siiifling as hard as tnoy can, until the Oil falls Into the throat, and practice that twice a week, I don't care liow offenslvo tlioirhead may be, it will clean it out and cure their catarrh. I'"or deafness and earache it has dono wonders to my certain knowledge. It is tho only medicine dubbed patent inedlcino that I have over felt like recommending, and I am very anxious to see it in every place, for I tell you that I would not be without it forany

consideration. I am now suflering.witli a pain like rheumatism in mv right limb, and nothing relieves mo lllto Thomas' Eclectric Oil.

To tho proprietors of Thomas' Electric Oil: GENTS—Last March I took a severe cold, and, being negligent in doctoring it, brought tho Asthma on me very severe. I could not not lie down or sleep for wheezing and shortness of breath. I took this thing and that, and tried different doctors, but round no relief. Six months ago I saw an advertisement in the papors recommending Dr. Thonia's Eclectric Oil, sol thought I would try that.and wonderful to relate, yet nevertheless true, tho first, doso I took relieved mo in a few minutes, and before I had taken onefourth of a 50-cent bottle I could breatho freely and sleep as well as over. It is equally as magical forcuts, bruises, burns and rheumatism. 1 woke up a few mornings sinco with such a pain in my eliest, that I could not draw a long breath, My wife said, "rub on Thomas' Eclectric Oil." I did so, and In a few minutes tho pain was gone, and 1 have not folt it since. My wife, also, had a severe attack of rheumatism In the arm and side. Sho applied tlio oil with the 8iuuc result. I would not bo without-it if I had to walk ten miles for it, and then pav So for a 50 cent bottle. 1 send you this testimonial hoping you will publish It, so that suffering humanity may be relieved of their aches and paliit,.

The Indianapolis and Logansport project has by no means beenaban doned. Colonel Yeoman reports new and very encouraging indications.

The movement of the tobacco crop northward has commenced. The Vandalia is receiving from the Evanseille & Terre Haute thirty to forty car loads per day.

The Vandalia, C., I., St. L. & C. and Ohio & Mississippi trains to Louisville now connect with those of the Chesapeake and Ohio for Richmond, where the traveler can take the luxurious steamers of the Old -Dominion Line for New York.

The great iron bridge across canon Diable on the Atlantic & Pacific road is completed, the first train passing over it Sunday. The bridge is 500 feet long and 200 feet high. This gives the Atlantic & Pacific 300 miles of finished track. Grading is ready for 180 miles west of the bridge.

The Financial Chronicle, in a late issue, illustrates the immense shrinkage in the market value of railroad stock during the past twelve months by giving a table, showing that 115 corporations have lost $514,003,000, if a comparison of the highest prices of 18sl is made with, the present prices of the present year, 1882. "With the smoke-consuming engine-.), now being used on the St. Louis & San Francisco road, the craft, instead of being upward as inordinary engines, is downward, thus throwing the cinders and smoke back into the fire-box, whence they again passinto the engine and arc consumed. In the experiments thus far made there has been saving of about 50 per ceni. of fuel.

Indianapolis Journal: An attorney who represents ono of the parties interested in the sale of the Indianapo"th" lis & St. Louis road, on the 27th of this month, stated yesterday that there was no doubt that the property would be purchased bv parties who represlint the Variderbllt and Pennsylvania interests but "that arrangments have been made mutually by which the road would be operated as a Vanderbilt interest, he agreeing to relieve the Pennsylvania poople from any further loss through the operating of the road, a burden which the latter has been carrying for some years, and losses which are due more to carrying through business at a ruinously low figure than any other one cause. As regards President Jewett or the Scney syndicate wanting the I. & St. L., he remarked that there was not the least ground for such a statement, Noither party could afford to pay the Jsum which it would cost to take the property from tho Bee Line as its western connection. No more serious blow could be struck at the Bee Line, and there was not the least question as to the Vanderbilt party securing control road.

One of the most interesting games of the season between the Blues and the Ywkwards was witnessed by a very large part of the picnicers at Early's Grove yesterday. The Awkwards went to the bat and were put out in one two, three order for several innings. Thev scored only in the last inning, when they made two runs and barely saved themselves from a clean whitewas, as two men were out before the uns were made. Dunn made a long hit, bringing in the two runs. The playing of Nelson, Herb, and Myers was a feature of the game.

The grounds were poor, but the game was the best of the season. The following is the score:

Mrs. Vernanz "Washamj of Connersville, was buried on Monday, her death being caused by blood poisoning. On last Tuesday the Cuesarian operation was performed on Mollie Littlefinger, oi Kendallville, a married dwarf, who had been exhibited by some of the traveling shows. The lit tie lady, who weighed fifty pounds, had gone to the full period of gestation. The child, which weighed about five pounds, is still alive, but the mother survived the dangerous operation only three or four days.

Saturday night about 8:30 o'clock Sam Dyer, a young man twenty-five years "of age," in company with two other young men, attempted to cross Sugar Creek at a point about two miles from Thorntown by swimming. "When

Dyer had gotten partly across he sank, and before any assistance could be rendered was drowned. All of Sunday the creek was thoroughly dredged for the recovery of the body, but thus far the search has been in vain.

Ira Irwin, an eight-year-old son of AVm. Irwin, of Clay township, Howard county, while "going through a pasture on Mr. Irwin's farm after a cow, was attacked by a sow and dangerously injured. The.sowcaught him by the right arm and then got him down, tore his right car off, bit him in the right leg, and then cut through the lower part of his bowels. His clothes were torn into shreds. The little fellow fought hard to save himself, and finally succeeded in getting away from hey and managed to walk about 100 vards from the fence, when he fell exhausted and where he was found by his mother. He was resting easy at last accounts and his recovery is probable.

The Indianapolis Times correspondent lias received the foUowing estimates of the wheat crop of 1882, in the several counties in Southern Indiana named:

Counties. -Bushels. Floyd 150,000 Harrison 700,000 Crawford 215,000 Clark 400,000 Dubois 500,000 Perry 850,000 Spencer 600,000 Warrick 600,000 Pike 750,000 Gibson 2,000,000 Daviess 1,200,000 Knox 1,000,000 Martin 325,000 Lawrence 500,000 Orange .' 350,000 Washington 550,000

Total 10,190,000 This seems like a high estimate, but when it ia considered that the acreage in wheat this year was the largest ever sown, and the yield the heaviest and best, the estimate is probably a very fair one. Many localities will average thirty bushels to the acre, while few, if any, will fall below twenty bushels. The crop in Gibson county will probably be the largest of any county in Indiana. The market will start at about $1.10 per bushel, and is not likely to advance much for several months.

Last evening Pat McGowan filled himself with bad whisky and proceeded to amuse himself on Main street by pushing ladies off the sidewalk. He was enjoying the sport when Officer Goodpasture came along and took him in tow. Patrick didn't want to go and fought all the way. On the corner of Fourth and Ohio he used the officer very roughly, which brought out the latter's mace. The remainder of the trip was accomplished without accident, and when Pat comes to judgment this morning it will be with a sore head.
