Is a purely vegetable bitter and powerful tonic, and is warranted a speedy and certain cure for Fever and Ague, Chills And Fever. Intermittent or Chill Fever, Remittent Fever, Dumb Ague, Periodical or Bilious Fever, and all malarial disorders. In miasmatic districts, the rapid pulse, coated tongue, thirst, lassitude, loss of appetite, pain in the back and loins, and coldness of the Spine and extremities, are only premonitions ot severer symptoms which terminate in the ague paroxysm, succeeded by high fever and profuse perspiration. 9

It Is a startling fact, that quinine, arsenic, and other poisonous minerals form the basis of most of the Fever and Ague Preparations," Specifics," Syrups," and Tonics," in the market. The preparations made from these mineral poisons, although they are palatable, and may break the chill, do not cure, but leave the malarial and their own drug poison in the system, producing quinism, dizziness, ringing in the ears, headache, vertigo, and other disorders more formidable than the disease they were intended to cure. ATXB'S AQITK CCRE thoroughly eradicates these noxious poisons from the system, and always cures the severest cases. It contains no quinine, mineral, or any thing that could injure the most delicate patient and its crowning excellence, above Its certainty to cure, is that it leaves the system as free from disease as before the attack. qi

For Uver Complaints, AVER'S AGI.K Cm, by direct action on the liver and biliary apparatus, drives out the poisons which produce -these complaints, and stimulates the system to a vigorous, healthy condition.

We warrant *j| when tfeken according to directions.

"EOOMS FOR KENT."

This laughable comedy will be produced at the Opera house to-night by a strong company. It met with a good re ceptiou in Indianapolis, and recei»ed ex cellent notices from all tbe papers. O ihe*e we extract the following from the Sentinel:

There wss very laughab'e and fonny play presented at English's Opera home last night. It fact, it was more like a roaring comedy from first »o last. It was first brought out in New York some few months since at the Bijo Opera house, and attracted for many nights large and enthusiastic. audiences. It has no particular merit from a literary point of view. It is simply funny and laughable, abounding in quaint and original features, and full of afun and frolic. There are four acts in the piece, all of them well put on, and it consequently received a setting in keeping with the play. The theme of the farce is the adventures of thoroughly agreeable characters. "Harry Huccleman," author, actor, penny-a-liner, and general Bohemian, and "Albert Raymond," sn artist, honest but poor. The "temporary" poverty of these two chums drives them to quarters in a lodging-house, which sports all the aire of "shabby genteel," and furnishes the elements in cats, concertizere, and curiosities, for hilarious time?. It is here that all shades of characters are brought together, an important means of aggregation well understood by farcewriters where acquaintances are struck and plots laid which ferment ail the ingredients that go to make either comedy or melodrama, of which "Kooma for Kent" is a farcical mixture.

Mr. Beers, as "Harry Huccleman," wss a decided success. He is clever, original and refined in his modes, and contributes very handsomely to the success of the entertainment. He is a decidedly promising young actor, and has a brilliant future in store for him. He will be heard from again in the near future favorably. The support was generally good. Messrs. Dahl ana Raymond and Misses Fletcher and Reynolds'are worthy of special mention. The comedy will be repealed to night.

THE MIGHTY DOLLAR.

W. J. Florence will appear at the Opera House to-morrow evening as Hon. Bardwell Slote, M. C. from the Cohosh district, in B. E. Wolf's eccentric coinedy in four acts entitled "The Mighty Dollar."

The Chicago Times says: "A brief engagement was began by Mr. Florence last night at MoVicker's Theatre. The entertainment provided was Ben Wolf's well worn comedy, 'The Mighty Dollar,' but the attendance was nevertheless a large one. This piece has had a popularity rarely accorded an American play. Its popularity has not been worn by reason of its intrinsic merit to the two types of character—the Hon. Bardwell Slote and Mrs. General Gilflory, admirable satires in their way, built up and elaborated by the star. On the part of both there is the same amount of care lavished upon every detail of the assumption as formerly. Bai dwell Slote, the vulgar, overreaching trickster, tbe link in "rings," and the leader in steals, who infests political life, is put before us with the clear, keen vitality which characterized Mr. Florence's original acting in this part. The star has a strong supporting company. A large and fashionable house ia expected as this is the farewell tour.

CINDERELLA.

The popular Bice's Surprise Party will give "Cinderella at School" at the Opera house next Friday evening. The piece is justly termed a musical play, for though the music is its chief feature it is neither an operetta nor a comic opera. It is a play told in mixed dialogue and song. The new piece is a remarkably clever and charming trifle, full of gayety and brightness, fresh and entertaining from beginning to end. It wins the good-will of the audience from the start, and holds it throughout. The New "iork Times ssys: '•The popular success of 'Cinderella at Scool' is unquestionable, and though it does not aim beyond simple innccent mirth, it fulfills its aim in a manner that has its own quality of art. The story is told well and tersely, and is as lively as the theoretic conception of perpetual motion. The music is exceedingly simple, yet in delightful harmony with the phaies of the play. It is lacking neither in grace, lightness nor natural melody, and it is woven dexteronsly into the movement of the play. The school girls were a brisk, good-looking and picturesque group of unsophisticated blossoms. The play was set upon the stage with perfect taste, and reflected great credit on the management."

Electric Light Towers In Denver. Amerl'vSn Gaslight Journal. The Denver Bepublican of Thursday, September 29tb, says the electric light towers in thai city might as well be torn down. They are useless, utterly useless. The same paper of date of October 1st, states that the electric lights from tbe four towers, which are supposed to furnish sufficient light for the city, send forth their sickly glares every night. In their present condition they are an intolerable nuisance. Fortj similar concerns will not light the city. Unless they are improved the city council will, of course, not sign their stipulated contract with the electric company which provides that the city -pay them $14,000 per year in case the light proves efficient and satisfactory.

Tbe Vandalia paymaster's office was thronged all day long yesterday by the section and work train men, a large number of whom have been taken off the western divieion within the past few weeks. During 1881, they took 3,307,600 bushels of coal into St. Louis. The increase may be seen when it is stated that in 1876 the same road took but 316,750 bushels into the same city: In 1881 the Vandalia took 7,360,460 bushels into St. Louis, an increase of 2,000,000 over the business of 1876.

COLLISION AT O. C. JUNCTION. T. H. & freight train No. 7, running as No. 1, extra, collided with the C. & E. accommodation, No. 5, at Otter Creek junction yesterday morning. The latter train was an hour and a half late, and was laying at tbe junction for 1 and 1 extra to pass. Tbe switch was thrown open to the C. & E. The front platlorm of the C. & E. I. baggage car was also damaged. Tbe wreck was cleared away in a short time.

A SPOTTER SPOTTED.

The recent action of the O. & M. authorities in discharging their passenger conductors, through the connivance of "spotters," recalls a similar case that happened on the I. & St. L, when the late E. B. McClure was General Superintendent. Mr. McClure was allowed only a certain portion of the earnings with which to operate the road, and retrenchment was the watchword all along the line. Detectives, or "spotters" as the boys style them, were carried on every train for a week or more, one of these offioers occupying a passenger coach. One night a conductor, now on the road, pulled out of Indianapolis with a full load. In the rear seat of each car was a gentleman who paid his fare to St. Louis, each one giving the conductor a bill to change. The conductor snspected them, and he paid to a friend, "See if that man makes any notes when I leave tbe car." He jotted down something in a little book. It happened that a passenger had a ticket to this city, and decided to go farther west, and, of course paid the extra fare in money. The "spotter'' put down a cash fare from Indianapolis to the destination of the passenger, making no account of the ticket. Two or three days later, said conductor waB called on the carpet to explain to the General Superintendent the discrepancy of about $3 that had been detected in his last trip. The honest conductor said that if the Superintendent would produce the package of tickets that he turned over to the company he would give a satisfactory explanation. The tickets were produced, and the conductor exhibited one that he had taken the precaution to clip at the cornet, and wrote on the ticket bis iniliala and date, and he was honorably acquitted.

Frca Vaccination,

Notwithstanding the announcement of the Board of Health that they would vaccinate free of charge all persons, who could not otherwise afford it, there was not a single application for such treatment on Sunday or yesterday. An Enviable Reputation. It is with pleasure we allude to the manufactures of the well known chemists. Joseph Burnett & Co., of Boston. They have won by their merits and attractiveness a place beyond that occupied by any other similar manufactured goods in this country.

Their Cocoaine for the hair, and a superior Cologne water, have become famous for their excellence.

In .addition to these preparations are Burnett's Standard Flavoring Extracts for cooking purposes, and we ean not show better evidence of their superiority than by referring our readers to the testimonials of all the leading popular hotels in the country. These are published in Bar* sett's Floral Hand-Book, an attractive and valuable little pamphlet which is distributed gratuitously by the trade.
