SPECIAL NOTICES.
Aii Appeal to
Health wou)d be iauqh more carefully guarded than fi is at present,' a.nd the average of human life lengthened by many years if common sense and the light of experience were accepted by the universal public as their medical monitor and guide. The true philosophy of health is simple. It consists in refraining from indulgences and impruden ces which impair the vital forces, and in supplying any deficioney of vital power and constitutional vigor that may exist, by in vigorating and alterative treatment. To reinforce and regulate a feeble gj^Wta, and to prevent a more vigorous physique from yielding to unhealthy and debilitating influ eccea, Hostetter's Stomach Bitters is unques tionably the most potent of all vegetable purifiers. As a stimulant, it is the purest ever administered in medical practice as tonic and stomachic, the most infallible as an anti-bilious agent, the safest and surest, and as an aperient and regulating n&edicine mild and painless, yet irresistible. It is a protection against disease of every kind, and all seasons, and is particularly efficacious as a means of forearming the system against the ailments generated by a raw, damp, ungenial atmosphere. Hence its great value as a winter tonic and invigorant. No one predis' posed to indigestion, biliousness, constipation, rheumatism or nervous headache, should ever be without this Vital Elixir, Asa ccrtain class of country dealers are very anxious to dose their customers with "local bitters." of a worthless or pernicious character,' Which they represent.itq^bfeeaual or superior to tho greatnational tonic, the pub' lie is hereby {oreicarned against their'"tricks of trade."

THE NEW YORK TIMES.

efct iS'sii r" I
This journal is now thoroughly identified with the greatest political necessity of the hour—uncompromising warfare against all forms of corruption, whether in national c* local government. For yean past the TIMES has been exposing the demoralizing schemes of self-interested politicians, and Its recent warfare npon the Tammany Democrats has been received with universal approval. It has adhered to the pledge given in its original prospectus more than twenty years ago, that the public should be truly represented, and their interest faithfully guarded through its columns. Its record has been pure and hinprable, and the highest aim of its proprie tors is to render it more and more worthy of its past history, and of the confidence which the puhlie repose in it. Two out of three of the original proprietors still direct its policy, and guide it on all jpubllo questions. They purpose that the TIMKS shall continue to keep clear of all narrow and unworthy influences and cliques, and aim to represent the great hody of the public, as distinguished from personal tactions. It occupies a perfectly independent position, and is free to speak the truth on all subjects and about all men. Its greatly increased circulation throughout the country adds to its power and influence. It will continue to be a faithful exponent of Republican principles, and ad vocate with untiring energy every eause which tends to further the welfare of the peeple.
The utmost care will be devoted to Fathering political news from special souroes during the Presidential canvass. This department of the paper will be unusually full and trustworthy. Kenewed enterprise will be ex hibited in every department of the paper and large space will oe devoted to reports speeches made during elections, or on other mportant political occasions.
A very full summary of news, an4 many general articles of great interest, are published in the Semi-Weekly editions and in the Weekly edition there is an unabridged report of the proceedings at the Farmers^Club, an excellent summary of political information, and a great variety of matter
suitable for family reading, The NEW-YORK TIME8 is pre-eminently a family paper, all objectionable advertisements being rigidly excluded and it .has a constantly increasing circulation among the most respectable classes of the community.'
