SPECIAL NOTICES.
Tlie Means of Escape.
The fall has man perils for the weak and feeble, and its sodden atmospheric chances are trying to the constitutions of even the robust. The chilling temperature of the nights, as compared with the almost gammer warmth of the dats, necessarily exercises an unheilthy influence on all who are exposed to it. Hence dysentery, diarrhoea, intermittent fevers, bilious attacks, and derangements of all the secretions, are common at this season, The true way to escape them is to meet the causes with a protective and invigorating medicine. Hostetter Stomach Bitters are desivned for this exigency, xnis powerful vegetable specific relieves the system of all acrid humors, pnriues the iluias, tones the secretive organs, promotes healthy evaporation through the pores, increases the activity of the digestive functions, cheers the spirits, and regulates the bowels To do this is to maka the whole body vigorous, and render it proof against the vicissitudes of temperature, and against malaria. A course ofthe great tonic and alterative is therefore in all cases advisable as a preventive at this season. If, on the other Land, the mischief is already done, and intermittent or remittent fever is actually present, or the liver, bowels, er stomach disordered, there is no medicine so certain to effect a quick and thorough cure as this harmless. and agreeable preparation.
A New Enjoyment Ladies, have you used Murray & Lanman's
Fi.obid Wateb! It is really the best periame to bo found. It is equally suited for the handkerchief, the toilet and the bath. In France and England, in South and Central America, and in India and China, Ac., Ac., it is the only perfume in extensive use so agreeable and refreshing is its delightful fragrance, that when once nsed it is invariably referred to all others. mayS-deodly

jtjpMPTION. —The primary cause of Consumption is derangement of llie digestive organs. ThiB derangement produces deficient nutrition and assimilation. By assimilation, I mean that process i)y which the nntrimcnt of the food is converted into blood, and thenco into tha solids of the body. Persona with di- es!ion thus impaired, having the test prodir o?i ion lo pulmonary disease, or if they tnkf coki, will lialjte to have Con?'.i niti:ii nfthi! Luiu-bbevery

The very first riling I.J bo i'.oi'.e to c'c.i:is« the stomach and Dowels from ull ,i .n.icus and pljuie which are rlojj^ins these or^ai... tliat they cannot perform their function?, end then rouse lip and re-s-tore the liver to heal:hy action. For this purpo e, t!ie
and best remedy is Scheuck's
Mandrake Pills.. These Pills clean the stomach and bowels pf a?! thy dead and morbid slime that is causing disease and decay in the whole system. They will clear out the liver of all diseased bile that has accumulated there, and arouse it up to a /lew and healthy action, hy tfhich, nntnral arid healthy bile is secreted.
The stomach, howcls, atul liver arc thus cleansed by the use of Schenck's Mandrake Pills bnt tlicra remains in the stomach an excess of acid, the organ is torpid and the appetite poor. In the bowels, the lacteals are weak, ar.d requiring strength and support. It is in a condition like this that Schenck's Seaweed Tonic proves to bo the most valuable remedy ever discovered. It i9 alkaline, and its use will neutralize all excess of acid, making ths stomach sweet and fresh it will give permanent tone to this important organ, and create a good, hearty nppetite, and prepare the system for the fitsLproccss ef a good digestion, and ultimately make good, healthy, living blood. After this preparatory treatment, what remains to euro most cases of Consumption is tho free and persevering use of Schenck's Pulmonic Syrup. The Pulmonic Syrup nourishes the system, purifies the blood, and is readily absorbed into the circulation, and thence distributed to the diseased lungs. There it ripens all morbid matters, whether in the form of abscesses or tubercles, and then assists Nature to expel all the diseased matter in the form of free expectorali'on, when once it ripens. It la then, by the great healing and purifying properties of Schenck's Pulmonic Syrup, that nil ulcers and cavities are healed up sound, and my patient is cured.
The essential thing to be done in curing Consumption i« to get up a good appetite and a good digestion. that the body will grow in flesh and ^et strong. If a puisini has di.-eased lungs, a cavity or abscess there, the cavity cannot Ileal, the matter cannot lipen, so long as the system is below par. What is necessary to cure is a new orde:- of things, a good appetite, a good nutrition, the body to grow in flesh and get fat: then Naturo Is helped, ilie cavities will heal, the matte will ripen and be thrown off in large quantities and the perc- retrain health and strength. Thi is the true n:i I only plan to cure Consumption and if .1 person is very had, if the lungs .re ao\ entirely destroyed, or even if ono lung i£ entirelj jone, if thervj is enough vitality leit ill the othei to Ileal up. there is hope.
I have seen many persons enred, with only one sound lung, live and enjoy life to a good old ago This is what Schenck's Medicines Will do to euro Oonsiiniption. They will clean out the stomach, sw»eten and strengthen it. get up a good digestion, and give Nature the assistance she needs to -lear the system of all the disease that kin tlie uings, whatever the form may be.
It is important that, while using Schenck's Medicines, cure should he exercised not to take cold keep in-doors ir. cool and damp weather avoid night-air, and take out-doi-r exercise only

a genial and warm sunshine. I wish it distinctly understood that when I rejemmend a patient to he careful in regard to taking cold while using my medicines, Ido so for a special renson. A man who has but partially recovered from tho effects of a bud cold is far more liable to a relapse than one who has been entirely cured, and it is precisely tho samo in regard to
ger that I so strenuously caution pulmonary patients against exposing themselves to an atmosphere that is not genial and pleasant. Confirmed Consumptives' lungs are amass of sores, which the least change of atmosphere will inflame. The grand secret of my success with my medicines consists in my ability to subdue inflammation instead of provoking it, as many of the faculty da An inflamed lung cannot with safety to the pa tient be exposed to the biting blasts of winter
OT
tlie chilling winds of spring or autumn. It should be carefully shielded from all irritating influences. The utmo-t caution should be observed in this particular, as without it a cure under almost any circumstances is an impossibility.
The person should be kept on a wholesome and nutritious diet, and all the medicines continued until the body has restored lo it the natural quantity of flesh and strength.
I was myself cured by this treatment of tho worst kind of Consumption, and havo lived to get fat and hearty these niany years, with one lung mostly gone. I have cured thousands since, ana very many havo been cured by this treatment whom I have never seen.
About the 1st of October, I expect to take possession of my new building at the northeast corner of Sixth and Arch Streets, where I shall be pleased to give advice to all who may require it.
Pull directions accompany all my remedies, so liat a person in any part of the world can be read •-)'cared by a strict observance of the sam*.
