SPECIAL NOTICES.
S Valuable Hint*'
A regular habit of body is absolutely esstn tial to physical health and cfearntss of intel lect. Nor is this all. Beauty of person can not co-exist with an unnatural condition the bowels. A free passage of the refuse matter of the system through these natural waste pipes, ia as necessary to the purity of the body as the free pasage of the offal of a city through its sewers is nece?ary to the health of its inhabitants.
Indigestion is the primary causo ot the most of the diseases of the discharging organs and one of its most common results
IB
consti
pation. This complaint, besides being dan* gerous in itself, has many disagreeable concomitants—such as au unpleasant breath, a sallow skin, contaminating blood and breath and bile, hemorrhoids, headache, loss of of memoir and general debility. flostetter's Stomach biturs remove all these evils by removing their immediate cause in the digestive organs, and rtgulatin'g the action of the intestines. The combination of properties in this celebrated preparation iB one of its chief merits It is not merely a stimulant or a tonic, or antibiliious agent, or a nervine, or a blood depurent, or a cathartic, but all these curative elements judiciously blended in one poweriul restorative It lends activity and vigor to the inert and enervate stomach relieves the alimentary canal ot its obstructions, and gives tone to the membrane which lines it, gently stimulates the liver, braces the nerves, and chters the animal spirit*. No other remedy possesses tuch a variety of hygienic virtues- It to these characters tics that it owes iis prestige as a household medic ne. Expetienee has proved that it is as harmless as it is efficacious, and hence it is as popular with the weaker sex as with the i-tronger. os tetter's Stomach Bitters are sold in bottles only, and the trade-mark blywn in the glass and engraved on the labels, is the test of genuineness. Beware of counterfeits.-
CONSUMPTION.
Its Cure and Its Preventive.
BY J. H. SCHENCK,
M.D.
Many nlminun being lias passed away for whOM deutli there wits no other reason than the neglect of known and Indisputably proven means of cure. Those Hour and dear to family and friends are sleeping the dreamless slumber into which, had they cumily adopted DR. JOSEPH II. SCHENCK'S SIMPLE
TREATMENT,
and availed themselves of his wonderfully efficacious medicine*, they would not have fallen.
Dr. schenck has in Ills own case proved tnftt wherever sufficient vitality remains, that vltal.tv, by his medicines and his directions for their use, is quickened into healthful vigor.
In this statement there is nothing presumptuous. To tho faith of tho invalid Is made no representation that is not a thousand times substantiated by living and visible works. The theory of the euro by Dr. Schenck's medicines is as simple as it is unfailing. Its philosophy requires no argument. It Is self-assuring, self-con-
The ^Sea-weed Tonic and Mandrake Pills are the first tvro weapons with which tho citadel of the malady Is assailed. Two thirds of the cases of consumption originate in dyspepsia and a functionally disordered liver. With this condition the bronchial tubes "sympathize" with the stomach. They respond to the morblflc action of the liver. Here then comcs the culminating result, and the setflpij |n, with all its distressing symptoms ot .' f*h~. '.:5WTk

'Now comes the greatest Blood Purifier ever yet given by an indulgent father to suffering man.
Schenck's Pulmonic Syrup comes in. to perfonn its functions and to hasten and eoth^um the cure. It enters at once upon its wort. Nature c-in not be cheated. It collects and ripens the Impaired and diseased portions of the lungs. In the form of gatherings.it prepares them for expectoration, and lo! in a very shwrt time the malady is vanquished, the rotten throne that il occupied Is renovated and made new, and thi patient, in all the dignity of regained vigor, step* forth to enjoy the manhood or womanhood that was
GIVEN UP AS LOST.
The second thing is, tho patients must stay in a warm room until they get well it Is almost impossible to prevent takin cold when the luRgs aro diseased, but it must be prevented or a cure can not be effected. Fresh air and riding out, especially In this section of the country, fn tho toll and winter season, nre all wrong. Physicians who recommend that course lose their patients, if their lungs are badly diseased: and yet, because they are in the house they must not Bit down quiet they must walk about the room

To despair or cure after such evidence of Its possibility In the worst cases, and moral certainty In all others, la sinful. Dr. Schenck's personal statement to the Faculty of his own cur# was In these modest words:
Many years ago I was in the last stages of consumption confined to bed, and at ono time ray physicians thought that I could not live a week: then, like a drowning man catching at straws, I heard of and obtained tlie preparations which 1 now offer to tho public, ami tliey made a perfect cure of me. It seemed to me that I could feel them penetrate my whole system. They soon ripened tlie matter in my lungs, ana 1 would spit up more than a pint of offensive yellow matter every morning for along time.
As soon as that began to subside, my cough, fever, patns, and night sweats all began to leave me, and my appetite became so great that it was with difficulty that 1 could keep from eating too much. 1 soon gained my strength, and nave grown in flesh ever since. "I was weighed shortly after my recovery," added the Doctor, then looking like a mere skeleton my weight was only ninety-seven pounds my present weight is two hundred and twenty-tlve (225) pounds, and for years I have enJoyed uninterrupted health."
Dr. Schenck has discontinued bis professional visits to New-Vork and Boston. He or his son. Dr. J. H. Schenck, Jr., still csntinue to see pa-

deolares the exact condition ef the
ungs, and patients can readily learn whether they are curablo or not. The directions for taking the medicines are adapted to the intelligence even of a child. Follow these directions, and kind Mature will do the rest, excepting that In some cases the Mandrake Pills are to be taken in increased doses the three medicines need no other accompaniments than the ample Instructions that accompany them: First create appetite. Of returning health, hunger i» the most welcome symptom. When it comes, as it will come, let the despairing at onco beef geod cheer. Good blood at ones follows, the cough loosens, tho night sweat is abated. In a short time both of these morb-d symptoms are gone forever.
Dr. Schenck's medicines aro constantly kept .n tens of thousands of families. As a laxative or purxative, the Mandrake Pills area standard preparation while tho Pulmonio Syrup, as a eure of coughs and colds, may be regarded as a prophylacteric against consumption in amy of its forms.
