SPECIAL NOTICES.

OR SCBEXCK ADVISES COSSUiOK TtVES TO GO TO FLORIDA IX mXTEIt.

j-1 "i.'i

Havikcfor tho last tkirty-flvo yean devoted ray whole time and attention to tho study or long dlf

hmi and consumption, I feel tbat I understand folly the course that ouglit to be pursued to restore a tolerably bad case ot diseased lungs to healthy soundness. The first and most Important step Is, for the patient to avoid taking cola: and the best of all places on tbis continent for tills purpose. In winter, is Florida, well down in the State, where the temperature is regular, and not subject tosuch variations as in more northern latitudes. Falatka Is a point I can recommend. A |ood hotells kept there by reterman. Last winter I saw several sons there whose lungs had been badly diseased, but who, under the healing influence of thocllmate and jav medicines, woro getting well.

One hundred miles farther down the river Is a .point which I would prefer to l'aiatka, as the ternerataro is mora even, and the air dry and bracing [ellonviUe and Enterprise are located there. I should give a decided preference to Alellonvlllc: It Is two miles from river or lakeland Itseems almost imposslblcto take cold there. The tables In Florida might be better, and patients complain at times: butt hat is a good sign, as it indicates a return ot

other piaces in various parts of Floriiln, can be tali ly recommended to consumptive winter. JI. reasons for saying so are, that it' uu arc less liable to take cold tlicro than v.i to is a Ices even temperature and it is iii ry to eay, that, where a consumptive per: on exposeshimscll to frequent colds, ho is certain to lic shortly therefore my artvico Is, go well down into tlio State, out ofthe reach of prevailing east winds and fog Jacksonville, or almost any other ofthe loealitic 1 have named, will benefit tbo3o who arotronblci. with a torpid liver, a disordered stomach, derange!" bowels, sore throat, or cough it, for tUose who» limps are diseased, a more southern point Is earnestly recommended.

For fifteen years prior to 13BP, I was professionally in Mew York, Boston, lialtiinorc, anil Philadelphia everv week, where 1 saw and examined on an average five hundred patients a week. A practice

soextensive, embracing every possible ph i»cof lung disease, has enabled cie to uuderstana the Siseaso fully and hcnco my caution in regard to taking cola.

Schencl

A person liny take vast'quantities ot Schenck's Pulmonic Syrup, Seaweed Tonic, and taking cold. in pi tudes. It a well-established fact, that natives

"Snmdrake rills," end yet die if lis docs not avoid

InThorida, nearly everybody Is using Schenck's Mandrake l'ills for the ciiinato is more likely to produce bilious habits than more northern latt-

of Florida rarely die of coasumption, especially those «f the southern part. On the other hand, in Xew Encland, one-lliirdat least of tlie population die of tliis terrible disease. In tho Middle States, it does not prevail solargely still there are many thousands of cases there. What a vast pcrccntago of life would bo saved If consumptives were as easily alarmed In repard totaking flresn colds as they are about scarlttfever, small-pox,tc..I but they are not: they take what they term a little cold, which

ether still, until the lungs are diseased beyond all hopeofcure. My advice to persons whose lungs arc affected, even slightly, la to lay in a stock of Schenck's Pulmonic Syrup, Schenck's Seaweed Tonic, and Schenck's Mandrake Fills, and go to Florida. I roeommend these parUcularmcdicincs, bccause I am thoroughly acquainted with their action. I know, that, where they are used in strict accordance with iny directions, they will do tho work tbat la required. This accomplished, nature will do tbe rest Vhe physician who prescribes for cold, couth, or night sweats, and then advises tho patient to walk or ride out every day, will bo sure to have a corpse on liis hands before long.

My planis, to give my thrco medicines In accordance with the printed directions, except in somo cases where a freer use of the Mandrake l'ills is necessary. My object is, to give tone to the stom-

ach,—to get up a good appetite. It Is always a od sira when a patient begins to grow hungry: nop

fh?ve£ope of such. With a relish"for food.'and the gratification of that relish, comes good blood, and with it more flesh, which Is closely followed by a healing of tbe lungs,—then the cough loosens and abates, tho creeping chills and clammy ni?ht sweats no longer prostrate and annoy, and the patient gets well, provided he avoids taking cold.

Vow, there are many consumptivea who have not tho means to go to Florida. The question may be asked. Is there no hope for such Certainly there is. My advice to such is, aud ever has been, to stay in a warm room during the winter, with a temperature of about seventy degrees, which should t0 kept regularly at that point by means of a thermometer, list sifcb a patient take his exercise within the limits of tbe room by walking up and down as much as his strength will permit, in order to keep op a healthy circulation of the blood. I have eiuea thousands by this system, and can do so again. Consumption la as easily cured aa any other dtecase,if it fa taken in time, and the proper flic I kind of treatment Is pursued. The feet stands unLllt I disputed on record, that Schenck's l'ulmonic

Syrup, Mandrake fills, and Seaweed Tonic havo cured very many of what seetaed to be hopeless cases of consumption. Go where you will, you will be almost certain to find sorru poor consumptive who has been rescued from the very Jaws of death bjr their use.

So far as the Mandrake rills are concerned, —r of them on hand, than calomel, and behind. In fact,

Mandrakes will cure you. If you are subject to sick headache, take a dose of the Mandrakes, and they wlH relieve yon In two hours. If you would obviate the effect of a change of water, or the too free indulgence In fruit, take one of the Mandrakea are it night, and you may then drink water, and cat watermelons, pears, apples, plums, peaches, or corn, without the risk of being made sick by them. They will protect thoso who live in damp situations against chills and fevers. Try them. They are perfectly harmless. They can do you good only.

I have abandoned my professional visits to Boston and Xow York, but continue to see patients at my ofllce. Ma 15 North Sixth Street, l'hiladclphia, every Saturday, from 9, a.m., to 3, p.ii. Those who wisha thorough examination with the Respirometer will be charged five dollars. Tho Bcspirometer declares the exact condition of the lungs and patlenta can readily learn whether they are curable or not. But 1 desire it distinctly understood, that the value of my medicines depends entirely upon their being taken strictly according to directions.

In conclusion, I will say, that when persona take my medicines, and their systems are brought into a healthy condition thereby, they aro not so liable to take cold yet no one with diseased lungs can bear a sudden change of atmosphere without the liability of greater or less irritatien of the bronchial tubes.

Full directions in all languages accompany my medicines, so explieit and clear that any one can use them without consulting me, anu can be bought from any druggist.

One Second—Will Sow Any Kind of Grain or Seed. Whether Clean or Foul. The grain is distribited by means of small double spiral feed wheels working in cups under the hopper: these wheels carry the grain upwards to a discharge opening in the cup and force it out, and with it force out straw and other obstructions. It is utterly impossible to choke it, and as evidence of this fact the wheat we have in our sample machine is hall chaff, and by turning the wheel it is carried through as well as clean wheat.

It will sow any kind of grain, and in a quantity desired. In other force feed drills to change the feed you remove one cog wheel and put in another and the cog wheels arc loose and liable to be 08t- In the

FARMERS' FRIEND DRILL
