day evening, a little gill about four years old, daughter of Samuel Archer, a respectable colored nian, residing on South Third st: eet, near the A. M. E. Church, was so terribly burned as to cause its death.' The children were playing in a room adjoining one in which were the grown folks. The latter heard a scream from the children, but when they attempted to enter the room, found that the doorknob was off, and that the door could not be opened. I3y the tirue they could run around to the rear of the house and dash in a window, the child was burned beyond hope of recovery, and death put an end to •ts sufferings in less than two hours. The accident was caused by the children playing. with the fire.

Ferreli, President Linus Moyer, Vice President Jos. Gilbert, Secretary James M. Sankey, Treasurer Win. R. Hunter, Superintendent. The time' for holding the next County Fair was set for the 5th,'6th, 7th, 8th and 9th days of September. The premium list was arranged. The total list of. premiums to be awarded amounts to $4,000, to be paid as last year, pro rata. It is divided as follows: $2,000 in the live stock department $1,000 in the agricultural department $500 iu the miscellaneous and $500 in the mechanical department. ,The officers and directors express a determination to use'every effort to make this one of the most suscessful fairs ever held in the county. rv |§j

'Post master Burnett and Dr. Van Valzah went up to see him yesterday. They found him bleeding at the lungs, and so low that his physicians had given orders to admit no visitors.
