FIXE ENGINE. McKlfresh & Barnard, of the Phcenix Foundry, shipped to Woodville, Illinois, yesterday, a large and powerful siationary engine, which was manufactured complete at their shops, and will compare favorably with the best-engines in the West.

THE new Round House for iheTerre Haute and Indianapolis liailroad is nearly done. 11 is one of the most conspicuous buildings in the city, the cupalo at the apex being visible from a distance of several miles in the country. We learn that it will be one of the best buildings of the kind in (lie West.—Jml. Jaunt'il,

Tirr-: meeting at Mont Zion Church today will be mi the picnic order, and will commence at half-past ten this morning with a speech by Rev. B. W. Smith, candidate for the Legislature. After dinner W. W. iiiry, II. H. Boudinot and others will address the meeting. It promises to be a large gathering.

EXTENSIVE COAJ. SITEDP.—The T. H. ,V 1. K. R. Co. are erecting just west of their Freight Depot extensive coal shedsThey will have capacity to store 13,000 bushels of coal. This will very much facilitate the delivery of coal and save much heretofore lost lime caused bv having to let their cars stand until unloaded into wagons. They will be ready for use by September Int.

MAYOR'S COURT.—Yesterday morning George "Williams was brought in for committing an assault and battery upon the person of a man^named Havward. He had to pay a bill of line and costs, amounting to S'il2.011. The assault occurred the night previous,- at the "Ten of Diamonds" saloon. Williams put Hayward out of the saloon, and as he went out, kicked him in the face, cau.sing a rather disagreeable disfiguration.

A woman, who promises to lead a better life, was'fined, JwithJcotfts, $14.75, for maintaining a house of bad character:

Frank Lowe came in on a provoke," and was let oft" with the payment of S5.00.

RAILROAD ACCIDENT.—We understand on going to press, that one of the night freight trains, containing twenty-two cars run oil' the track last night, near Reelsville.'Fortiinatel there was no person in jured. This accounts for the delay of oiir morning express, which did not ariive until seven o'clock.—Uru-il Miner.

We learn on inquiry that no such accident as the above occurred on the T. H. & I. K. R. No accidents whatever have happened to any of the trains during the week. The Wednesday morning express waited at Indianapolis two hours and five minutes for eastern connections and brought over a very heavy train, there being two hundred and fifty through passengers. This alone caused the delay.

THE FARMERS GUIDE.—The August number of this valuable paper, published by Jones & Jones, is just out, and is being distributed to its thousands of readers. The advertisements are edited with marked ability, and there is a lively sprinkling of reading matter and home news, and valuable information, sufficient to make the paper a welcome visitor, and be read with interest. We might speak of the energetic, systematic, and driving characteristics of the house of Jones Jones, the side proprietor:! and inventors of the celebrated "Q .itu yen were it »"t for a wholesome dread that people would say that's "you tickle me and I'll tiekle you for we lind, in the columns of the (itiiile. the following tribute to true merit: '11 ":'r "STYLE.—We flatter ourselves that typographically the Guide is neat as any paper.
