ETZ CORRESPONDENCE.

London, Julv 2').—A sjiecial correspondent writes from Met* under date of July 21st, that three camps have been f'..rmed around the city, lie was allowed lo Inspect Fort St. Quentin under gn id-* arice of an oflioer, and fnll information was furnished him. The fort is to be completed in twenty-four hours. Sixty cannon are being placed in position. Ditches, casements, bomb proof bai racks and everything connected with a forties* aie constructed on an immense scale.— The work is not destined to defend Me.tz iiicrelv. That place was sufficiently lortilied before, bill lo protect a vast encampment like the present, or give shelter to a beaten armv.

The fact that the walls w^re commenced months'ftj*o* i^Viter S frH&f- of Tiow rance has been prejiarins: for an offensive war at the lirst oppoflunity.

There are two forts, St. Quentin commanding a broad vallcv, atiiver and «tpproaches to the town. The guns of these forts can play with tremendous effect upon anv eneiiiy that mar adt-antfe through the valley to attack the town, while in the v&lley there is ample shelter for a whole army, guarded on one side by the guns of the town, and on the other side by guna of the forts.

The officers at the forts did not expect to leave for the frontier in less time than S days. A captain in the Prussian Engineer Corps had jilst been arrests in the Tort as a spy. Marshal Bazainfe wa$ ii) Metz. Horses belonging to. a number of his staff were kept saddled and standing before the hotel, but no move had yet beetrmade. Great difficulties were -experienced in getting supplies forward, not only from Paris, but Troto the country about Metz, all the horses belonging to the inhabitants having been seized, and even'sm«at i^l .ve«tables beginning to faih Thii itisi^ata^ that French movements may be still sometime delayed.

A French frigdte had been dispatched to the Scotch coast to recruit seamen from the fisheries. The French War Office is taking extraordinary precautions to preserve secrecy.**Bureau chiefs are prohibited from holding intercourse with persons outside. All instructions proceed direct from the Minister of War, and not through subordinates.

DENMARK.

A specfal dispatch from Paris to the Daily ^Nejvs, dated Saturday last says France is resolved to force Denmark into hostilities-'against- Prussia, notwithstanding the determination of the Danish Cabinet" to remain neutral. A French fleet will slwrtly appear before Copenhagen and make a movement to overthrow the Ministry and save the Danes from Prussia, in spite of themselves.

THE ALABAMA QUESTION.

P., will this week ask the government whether the statement is true, received by telegaaph from Amersca, that _Jxrd Clarendon replying to a communication from Motley had declined to reopen the Alabama nc« gotiafions. If true, whether the government will produce the correspondence.

THE TONE IN OFFICIAL 'IR-'I.KS is rather too indifferent about protecting Belgium neutrality. English relations with France are less strained than they wore a few" days since. Some fears are expressed that the government will be found to have beenjtoo deferential to Napoleon. It is doubtful whether the whole correspondence will be published.
