PRESIDENT BOWMAN, of Asbury University, has assumed the pastorate of Meridian Street Church, Indianapolis, recently vacated by the Rev. C. N. Sims. It is hinted that the latter gentleman was transferred to Baltimore at the suggestion of a Bishop's daughter who has a fastidious ear. At all events the Baltimortens have secured-a prize, for Mr. Sims is a very exceptionally eloquent and able preacher.

FROM the Sentinel we learn that Professor Cox, State Geologist, has started on his summer campaign. He proposes to examine all the counties in the coal measure south of the Indinapolis and Terre TTo.itP. Railroad. He will be engaged in these'researches all summer, but jfrill visit Indianapolis twice eacli month for the purpose of letting the world know what has been done. He will be assisted by Dr. Levette, of Indianapolis, DrHaymond, of Franklin country, and T)r. John Cnllett, of Vermillion county.

of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, seventeenth day. Bishop Doggett, President.

The Committee on Sunday Schools made an elaborate report, providing tor a general secretary of Sunday schools, to be selected by general conference, who shall report to the general secretary in order to render a more efficient and uniform system. After lengthy discussion the report was adopted.

The Committee on Missions reported in favor of consolidation of foreign and domestic boards into one board, to lie componed of bishops and delegates of each conference. This portion of the report was adopted, and the remainder laid over for the order of the day, the veto power of bishops, which was discussed until the hour of adjournment.
