Tfee number originally buried in the cemetery was 1,575. Of these eleven were taken away by their friends, leaving 1,564 to be removed. So far there have been about 300 interments.

It is an appartus which enables a single man hi a few momenta to close all httchw^y«, stairways and windows-in a bufldinf so as effectually to exclude the air, reduce fire to a smoldering condition as well as prevent it from spreading. The universal opinion of those who saw it was, that the invention would greatly reduce the danger and destructiveness of fires. Insurance men also were present and expressed their willingness to reduce, the rates upon boildingrthua protected. -,.
