ruffians fliddenly entered at the front door, with revolvers and knives drawn, and one of them said to Mr. H., "G you, we want you." Upon this, thev seized Mr. H., bound his hapds and l&'iioiAfrtMii H., and her sister who were in the room just at the rear of.the store, were treated in the same manner.

Search was then ma^e for money, and a considerable sum, not far from $1 5, was taken from Mr. Hoff's person. But the robbers had expected to find more mon ey, and were exasperated at its non-ap-,4kfehy Ttte?ii«t&*ithe frio&t 'flMful threats, one of them holding a knife over the throat of Mrs. •Hoff's infant child and swearing he would kill it instantly if she would not tell him where the money was concealed. Mrs. H. replied that the money had been put in the bank, The robbers exclaimed in chorus, "You had it here three days ago, G—d d—m you, 'Ami itliefi ikhr." Finding all their threats and imprecations unavailing— the money for which they were seeking having actually been deposited in bank—

On Saturday morning the police made' every /effort .to ferret out the authors of the outrage. Several arrests were made. Mr. and Mrs. Hoff went to the Court House to see the'parties who were under arrest and if possible, to identify them Mrs. H. identified, with some degree of positiveness, a man named .Charles WilsotM She made affidavit against him, and he is held in $500, bail to appear foi^ examination before the Mayor this morning.

An occurrence like this is calculated to alarirt the etftirte eomihnnity.
