The company supporting him is far above the average, aud having traveled With him for weeks are well up in their parts, which adds jrreatly to the pleasure of a dramatic

The play of Virginius i's always, popu lar. It appeals to the tender and heroic qualities ot the human mind: it exhibits the father protecting the honor of his child the patriot, the liberties of his conntry and. in both cases, the stream is with the author and actor. They do not have to breast it. Virginius is a charac ler cast in the manly mould. He was a Roman of the early type.. With him the sterner virtues were^every-day public and private duties. He served the State with zeal and fidelity. He hated tyran bv,
duplicity and fawning upon the rich aiid powerful. This is the basis of the character of Virginius, and Mr. Forrest enacted it last night, with such earnestness of manner, such intensity of feeling as to carry the audience with him, from first to last, and at times arouse them to fever heat of enthusiasm. The.noble Ro man, his patriotism, his filial affection, his resolute purpose to save bis daughter from dishonor, was successfully delineated as no other actor on the stage of the present day can do.* His clinging fondness for his daughtfr, and the fatherly familiarity with which he won from her young heart the confession of its preference for Julius was well contrasted with his stormy denunciation of Appius Claudius, and his desire for Justice upon the royal profligate. Each division of the part was marked by appropriate speech and action, and yet the whole made up a perfect character.— Strong in passion^ marked in individuality, distinct in feeling, and clothed with all the attributes pertaining to a Roman citizen of the period chosen for the action upon which the play rests. Mr. Forrest feels the fire and p&ssion of such a role as Virginius, and eachjword of the text was delivered as^if the"|U^or was the real man. Miss "LHlie nas'youth and coraeli-

Agricultural Implement Trade. Editors Express:
In compliance with
your request, I will give you a few facts and figures in relation to the Agricultural ln^plement, trwl! in this city^the past season. l^tio 4ot cl4im'that they are en* tirely correct, bi^t I believe that the figures are not too high. We will commence with Reapers and Mowers. There were 365 Reapers and Mowers sold at an average of $180 each. 365 Reaper*?* $180 etch $ 67,700 36 Threshing Machines at $600 21,600 1500 Plows at $15 each 22,500 75 Cider Mills at $30 each 2,250 50 Drills for wheat at $75 each.. 3,750 Othe(r miscellaneous articles say.. 15,000 i*j
J*
Total... ..$130,800 There was not one-fourth of the Wheat Drills sold the past seasbn that was sold the year before, owing to the unfavorable weather at seeding time. The Cane Mill trade has been very dull for the l#gt. f$$ years, and only a few were sold.

There are a great many other imple. ments not enumerated but placed under the head of miscellaneous articles—such as Horse Rakes, Revolving Rakes, Cut ting Boxes and Double and Single Shov els, Churns, &c., &c. Nearly all of these implements are made in Ohio .(with the exception of probably half the plows.)
Now we,will say thatstljere $130,800 worth offmplemei«n |ol4 she only about 15 per cent, of that money is left here, the rest going back to the man nfactnrer. Jben, wfiy not establish a njanufactory here and make all of these imple ments here. We have every facility for that business, right in 'the centre of a fine agricultural country possessed of all the advantages for transportation with Rail roads running north, east, south and With an abundance of coal, iron and tim ber, this city possesses advantages for manufacturing over almost every city of its size in the Western States.
A manufactory of this kind will bring into our city an additional population of two or three hundred good mechanic, increase the price of real estate and fur nish work for a iarge number of our idle, loafing men in the winter season.
The large Threshing Machine Faetorv of Aultman & Taylor, at Mansfield, Ohio, employs 450 hands, and turns out ten threshers a day. And yet they are com pelled to send to Isdiapa for most of their lumber.
Onr citizens should wake up to the importance of this matter, and build an eatabishmen*
