had a good run
of business on Saturday. Three young men were arrested for bad associations. Two plead guilty to the charge and had to pay $7,50 each. The third said he was not guilty and demanded a jury of twelve men, who on hearing the evidence said lie was, and assessed a fine of fifteen dollars, "which with costs amounted to a bill of $38.,50. He couldn't pay and was about to go to jail, when his father appeared and an appeal was taken to the Circuit Court.
Two young men were tin^s$7j0O e^ch for gaming. For carrying secretly a pair ol brass knucks a bruiser had to pay $7,50.

dcates to a certainty that a large and fashionable audiehce will be at Dowling Hall to-night to witness the performance of the famed Fox Pantomime Company and the wonderful Kiralfy Troupe of Hungarian Sensation Dancers, in the great pantomime of "Humpty Dumpty Seats can be secured in advance without extra charge. The St, Louis
Republican
has this mention:, Pantomime is an English plant, and grows best perhaps on the native sou of "Harlequin" and "Columbine,"' but it has been skillfully transplanted to this country, and bids fair to flourish luxuriantly here—if we may judge from the perform^ ance at the Olympic last evening. N one expects a critique, (^borate or otherwise, of "Humpty Dumpty," and if they do they will be grievously disappointed so farj'at least, as we are concerned.' One might as well try to analyze or deseribe the shifting combination of rare colors which delights and dazzles the eye in the keleidoscope. Here is a large and welltrained company,- who for years have made this place a specialty, playing it in New York alone over six hundred nights. Each actor or actress is as familiar with his or her part as with the letters of the alphabet, and consequently the play proceeds lfrith smoothness and exactness from beginning to end—for a single blunder, a single hesitation, which might be pardoned in an ordinary drama,, would be fatal to a pantomime. The scenery and machineiy, the innumerable tricks and transformations, are all in harmonious keeping, and we were unable to detect a point where any improvement is necessary. Perhaps the most attractive feature of the whole is that assumed by the Kiralfy troupe of. Hungarian dancers, fourteen in number who appear in a grand sensational divertisen^ent, and also a nautical ballet, both ofwhich. are exceedingly graceful and elegant ,and rendered with a spirit and brilliancy that we have seldofti seen surpassed. "Humpty Dumpty," then, is produced in unimpeachable style, and we are sure will have a successful run through the entire week.

Columbus,
The lecture passed off smoothly enongh. When Mr. White left the building he was taken in charge by the police, who conducted him toward the Neil House. They were followed by a crowd of between two and three hundred miscreants, generally armed and with their pockets full -of stones, cursing, swearing, and uttering the most obscene language and threats. When opposite Clarke & Farmers hat store several stones were thrown, one of which'struck Mr. White on the shoulder, another knocked off his hat, and a third passed close to his head and smashed a large plate of French glass in the window of the hat store. As this was near^the Neil House, the police had but little difiicultv in hurrying Mr. White within doors. The cowardly scoundrels composing the mob howled around the doors for a time, and then dispersed. Had Mr.
White" been compelled to traverse the distance of another square, he would doubtless have lost his life at the hands of the mob. ,,
I have heretoforcforebomc al 1 mention of Mr. White in these dispatches, but I now express the universal opinion of respectable people here when I say that I hope he will continue his lectures as long as he thinks best, and not suffer free speech to be trampled under foot in the Capital city of Ohio by the miserable minions of the Pope of Rome.

Ohio, Feb. 4.
A dastardly outrage ^as committed to-, night upon the Bev.' Jt1 9. White/of Illinois, who has been lecturing during the past week j, upon the doctrines and iracticea of the Roman Catholic Church. lis lectures have been listened to by the mdst lespectable peoffle of the city, and have been spoken of in high terms. Tonight he delivered a discourse at the Opera House to males only, in which he read from approved Catholic^ books to show the practices and corruption of the confessional. Threats have Been made toward him during the week, and his bills have uniformly been torn down and destroyed. To-day some miserable wretches were heard to threaten him with anamination, and the Mayor, anticipating trouble, detailed a force of ten policemen, with the Captain of Police at their head, to go to the Opera House, with instructions to protect Mr. White and prevent a riot.
