1500 I^ Atnoon the next day, Mr. Ulric de 20 00 Fonvielle was confronted at the High Court before Pierre Bonaparte- The witnesses were examined. The testimony of
Dr. Pinel was taken, relative to the death wound of Victor Noir, and to the slight contusion experienced by the prisoner. The revolver of Bonaparte, it was said, had three barrels discharged.
EVENING OCCURRENCES.
-f
In the evening the stores were general ly closed. About 0 o'clock, same fotar thousand persons stood before the Palace of the Tnlleries, shouting, "Long live the Republic!" "Longlive Rochfort!" A battalion of the National Guard was accosted by a crowd in the Place de la Concorde with cheers and greetings, to which they heartily responded.-
THE BONAPARTE CONTUSION.
Five hypotheses in the examination were offered regarding Bonaparte's contusion. 1. It might have been caused by a ball spent, hfter several ricochets. 2. By fragments of wood or plaster scattered by shots. 3. If the contusion was caused by a blow from Noir, the latter must have worn a seal ring. 4. The cane picked up in the saloon might have given the blow.

Mr-
Ulric de Fonvielle.
To complete the hypotheses, four facts were recalled. 1. Pierre Bonaparte, fired three shots from his revolver. The revolver of Mr. Fonvielle was not discharged. If, therefore, a ball of the former in ricochetting struck him, the fact of a blow having been given, would not prove that it had been the cause of the contusion. 2. No mention has been made of the wearing of a seal ring by Mr. Noir, who did not wear one. 3. The contusion could not have been caused by a blow from the head of a cane, because Pierre Bonaparte asserted that it was from a blow ofthe hand. Besides, the cane belonged to Mr. de Fonvielle, who carried it. 4. Three balls were fired, and but one entered the body of the victim. The two others should be searched for. If they are found among the furniture, the two first hypotheses of Dr. Pinel Call to the ground. The third would be no more admissible, because Mr. Noir did not wear a ring. The fourth was destroyed by the declaration of Bonaparte. In regard to the fifth, even if accepted, the fact of blow of the hand having been received by Bonaparte would prove nothing. Besides this, Victor Noir, at the moment of his death, wore black gloves, and these have been for more apt to

Decrepitude is the. Batumi MOHUIliMlt of. old.ate. but it a^ bf period of entire helpUuness long postponed by the judicions uw of a healthful stimulant. Physicians, ftalljr aware of this tart usually recommend moderate stimulation when (ki strength and vigor of matwitr have been rag* ponded by the feJbleaMs and prostration which are the inevitable results of declining years. Port wine, tin, brandy, and ether liquors are often prescribed by medican men for aged persons, but the impulse whieh fermented and distilled liquors giro to tha eireulation, andthe energy they seem to impart, is transitory, unless the alcoholic principle is modified and qualified by the, presence of medieinal tonics and invigorants.— Of all the oombinations of diffusive stimuli with the Juices ofherbs. roots and barks that have ever been administered to the Med ana infirm, with the view of sustaining their waning strength, cheering their drooping spirits and relieving the aches and pains to which they are subjected, none has been found so efficacious, so agreeable ana so permanent in its .effects as Hostetter's Stomach Bittsrs. The difference between the effoot of the Bitters and that of a mere excitant however pure, is the same as between the effect of a sudden and momentary application of excessive force to a given purpose, and theresuit of a steady.eontinuous application of exactly the requisite amount of force to the same end. The mqre spirit of physical energy produced by a dram (and whieh is always succeeded by corresponding depression) never yet benefitted any man or woman suffering froraphysieal decay. A_cordial like Hoetetter's Bitters. at once soothing and invigorating, is the remedial agent required.

A HUMBUG.
HOW OFTEN we hear this tixpreuion from tenons reading advertisements of Patent tiedicineg. and in nine eases ont of ten they may be right. It is over 22 years since I introdnoed^Dr. Tobias' Venetian Liniment t6 the rablic. I had no money to advertisr it, so I eft it for sale with a few drnpgistfe and storekeepers through a small "section of theeonntry, many taking- it with-great reluctance: but I told them to let any ono have it. and if it did not do all I stated in my pamphlet, no one need pay for it. In some stores two or three bottles were taken on trial by persons present. I Was by many, thought erasy. and hat would be the last they would see of me. But I knew my medieinewa* no humbug. In about two two mouths I began to receive or-/ ders for more Liniment, seme ealling it my valuable Liniment, who had refused to sign reoeipt when Ileft it'Ct their store. Now my sales are millions of bottles yearly, and all for cash. I.warrant it superior to any other medicine/or the cure of Croup, Diarhoea, Dysentery, Colic, Vomiting, Spasms, nad Seasickness, as an internal-remedy. The Three Remedies. "SCHBKQX'S POLIIO-

SYRUP" for the cure of Coughs, Colds, Bronchitis, and every form of Consumption. The peculiar action of this medicine npens the ulcers in the lungs, promotes the discharge ofthe cerruptmatter by expectoration. Purifies the blood, and thus euros Consumption, when every other remedyfails.
Schenck's Sea-Weed Tonic" for the cure of jpepsia or Indigestion, and all diseases arising from debility. This tonie invigorates the digestive organs, supplies the place of the gastric juioe when that is deficient, and then enables the patient to digest the most nutritious food. It is a sovereign remedy for all oases of indigestion. .. "Sohenck Mandrake Pills," one of the most valuable medicines ever discovered, being a vegetable substitute for calomel, and having all the useful properties ascribed to that mineral, without producing any of its injurious effects.
To these three medicines Dr. J. H. Sohenok of Philadelphia* owes his unrivaled success in the treatment of Pulmonio Consumption. The Pulmonic Syrup ripens the morbid matter, dischaives it, and purifies the blood. The Mandrake Pills act upon the liver,-remove all obstructions therefrom, give the organ a healthy tone, and cure Liver Complaint, which is one of the most prominent causes of Consumption.
The Sea Weed Tonie invigorates the powers of ttie stomach, and by strengthening the digestion and bringing it to a normal and healJiy condition improves the quality of the blood, by whiebmeanethe formation of ulcers or tubercles in the lungsbecomes impossible. The combined action of these medicines, as thus explained, will cure every ease of Consumption, if the 'remedies are used in time and the use of them is persavercd in sufficiently to bringthe ease to a favorable termination.
