cfr HUSBANDRY.—Our atten
tion has been called to this Order, devoted more particularly lo the interests of Farmers and Horticulturists, though not exclusive in its membership.— From what we can learn, it is the most social organization before the public, and meeting witfl great favor in all the Stales where it has been introduced. While it aims to advance education, and cncourage social intercourse, it is also charitable and protective in its character. Ladies are admitted to full membership, there being no side degrees. The Order is presented to the public by Mason? and Odd Fellows in the highest degrees of those Orders, and consequently is meeting with a success unparalleled in the history of secret societies.
The work evidently means business, as in every town where a Lodge is organized a general business headquarters is established for the benefit of those members bringing produce jto town, and they are also inaugurating a system of monthly fairs for the purchase and sale of stock.
The Ritual contains four degrees in a subordinate Lodge, and said to be of the mast attractive character. We are pleasto learn that a branch of the Order is be ing organized here, with the intention of making it headquarters for the State, and from here, Deputies will be appointed to establish the work in the adjoining towns.
City Council.
The City Council met in regular session last evening. Present—His Honor, Mayor Cookerly, presiding, and Councilmen Coats, Seeburger, O'Connell, Dowling, Miller, Rockwell and Mattox.
That, in the opinion of this
Council, some active measures should be adopted looking to an organization of the proposed Terre Haute, Worthington and Bloomfield Railroad Company, and, for this purpose, a stock or subscription paper should be placed in the hands of some person or persons who will labor to extend the names and amounts already subscribed.
Resolved,
That this Council, having act
ed in good faith to the two railroad projects involved ill the petition-of tne citizens presented some months ago, have a right to ask that said petition^ already signed on behalf of the Council, be placed in the hands of His Honor, the Mayor, in order that tlie citizens of Terre Haute may have an opportunity to add additional names to the subscription paper aforesaid.
Besolved,
one of the proprietors
who 6tatccl that his associ
ate had written the item as a joke on people who were continually askiug foolish questions in the regard to the execution. The last time we spoke to Sheriff Stewart in regard to the matter he said that the execution would take place north of the jail building. We now learn that the gallows will be erected in the place mentioned by the

FATAL
ACCIDENT.—
days since Mr. James Watson, of
Cincinnati, brought his family to- the residence of Mr. C. W. Barbour^ four miles northwest of the city, for the purpose of spending the holidays. The anticipated pleasure of the visit was suddenly overcast yesterday afternoon by a terrible accident, which doubtless ere this has resulted in the death of^a bright little son of Mr. Watson. The little fellow, only six years of age, picked up a pistol which was lying in an open trunk, and while looking in at the muzzle, it was accidentally discharged, tho ball entering the forehead and passing through the hrain.. Dr. Link, of this city, was summoned, but on arriving fonnd the brains oozing out.and not the least hope of saving the life of the boy. The wife of Mr. Watson is a sister of Mrs. C. W. Barbour, and also of. Mrs. W. B. Warren, of this city. The family have the deepest syrripathy of a large circle of friends in this hour of terrible affliction. -r
