was a delightfully pleasant
day, and our people, who have been, as it were, in a heated furnace, for two weeks past, breathed freer, while relaxed muscles began once more to resume their former strength. Saturday and last nights were admirably adapted for sleeping, and this morning the entire city will arise refreshed and reinvigorsted. Wo hope the tun will not endeavor again this season to get up another heated term, for we are perfectly well satisfied with the powers he has already displayed in this respect, without requiring another such exhibition of his blazing strength. He should be ashamed of himself for making us so freely perspire and suffer as we have the past two weeks, and it is to be hoped he will now temper his rays so that we can «it and sleep and be mora comfortable while attending to the daily routine of our duties

occurred in the
Christian Church yesterday. In the ab sence of a regular psstor, Prof. W. Et Wiley conducted the services. As he was in the act of preparing the bread and wine for sacrament,*1 he suddenly fainted and fell forward. He soon revived however and was place! in a carriage and conveyed to his residence. It will be remembered that Mr. Wiley had similar attack near the Fourth street market, a few years since. At that time it was attributed to disease of the heart, but in this case, Dr. Armstrong, who waa in attendance, could detect no symptoms of this diease.
