THE SUNDAY LAW.—Considerable secsatiou was produced in our community .last week by tbe sudden and unexpected enforcement of tbe Sunday law, which ia general terms, forbids shop-keepers from selling goods, or persons from following their usual avocation on Sunday. Of course in this community we have no one tbat keeps open his store doors and displays samples, nor any mechanics who work at their trades on Sundays.

But occasionally a man buys a glass of liquor, or a plug of tobaeco, or a cigar, on Sunday, and it is sold, not in defiancA of law, but as an accomodation. The sudden and rigorous enforcement of the law, as in last week's Common Pleas Court, will have thecffectof putting stop to the reprehensible practice. Parties wiil be more thoughtful and lay in a supply of such luxuries on Saturdays.—

Tbe family was a large one and when the fact was known that the disease was small-pox, tbe community turned out and rapidly constructed a cabin in an isolated place east of the town, whence tbe family was removed We learn that another woman has died, and that the two old people are now lying dangerously ill with the loathsome dis ease, and that they are absolutely suffer ing from neglect that the physicians refus9 to risit them for fear they will lose a more profitable practice.
