Leavenworth dispitcn says the even ing Call of last Saturday has an article in which it is stated the old Indian ring has transferred operations from the In dian Bureau to-the military. It claims that at tho recent letting at the Distriet headquarters at Chicago, of a contract to supply the Indians of.Dacotab with beef, Mr. Fenton, the partner of ex-Gov*rnor Carney, was awarded the contract at $4.95, when as tbe Call claims Mr. Matthew Byan, of this city, had a bid ini at two dollars and seventy-five cents, and D. H. Mitchell at $3:29 per hundted pounds.— The Call also claimi that Mr. Byan as an inducement not to take the contract at two seventy-five was taken in as a partner by Carney, and D. H. Mitchell and Company were paid eight thousand dollars to secure the same object. Fenton, Carney's partner, of couree got the contract. The article eicitea considerable comment.

A Quincy, Illinois, dispatch says the late rains have so damagod the Hannibal & St. Joseph railroad, between Hannibal and Palmyra, that trains have ceased running between these places at present. Between this place and Palmyra a large part of the country is inundated and railroad trains run with difficulty. The Toledo, Wabash & Western railroad is much damaged, and no train left here this morning, and no trains arrived from

The counsel for the defense set up the plea of Insanity, and njmerous witnesses were examined on this point.

The father of the prisoner showed that from the time of her great-grandparents to the present period insanity had been the ruling affliction of the family. The Jury after an absence of two minutes returned with a verdict of not gu lty.

SIX Jurors were white and the other six colored. This is the fi st murder trial in tbe District of Columbia in which the latter race served as Jurors.
