Tolbdo, July 8.—Tbe first annual re-, gatta of the Northwestern Amateur Boating Association commenced here to-day. The first race for a pleasure and working boat, distance three and a half miles, was won by tbe "Banner," cf JDetrofc time 14m 40s.

Second race, distance three -miles, was woa by the "Maumee,'' of Toledo time 23m 264.

Thiid race, single sculls, distance twomiles, won by the ''W. R- Caulkios,'" of" Toledo time 19m 5s.

The barge race the championship of the Lakes takee place to-morrow. Clubs are present from Detroit, Milwaukee, Saginaw City and Brie.

Tbe tanks contained over a thousand barrels of oil, wbich ignited inatantaneously smd tb® tanks burst. The, burning oil r*n .across tho Talmann farm and Pittsbutg and Cheiry Run Oil Companies tract, barning eight or ten Wells and three thousand barrels of oil. The daily production of tbe wells destroyed is estimated at four hundred barrels. Total amount of oil burned four thousand barrels. Total loaf35,000.
