OUR people are contributing liberally towards defraying the expenses of the Fourth of July celebration.

THE VOTE of Asbury Chapel resulted in a majority of three against lay delegation.

HARVESTING IMPLEMENTS in large numbers went to the country on fiatar. day.

HON. A. LANGS delivers the oration at the German celebration of the 4thof July on Sunday at the Fair Grounds.

PERSONAL.—Our former townsman Lambert Duy, Esq, now a resident of Philadelphia is in the city for one or two months sojourn. ..

THE STEAMER ADVANCE will be at Fort Knox next Tuesday morning and will make trips throughout the day between Yincennes and Fort Knox where the Univursa'vt picnic

*S)TiiRious.—A full suit of men's clothing, including hat, boots and shirt weta found Friday evening on the West bank of the river, between the two bridges. The clothing was lying on the ground, the wearer having apparently taken them off to bathe. No clue has been obtained to the owner. 1

MARRIAGE LICENSES were issued last week by County Clerk Hollinger to the following parties: Bichard Bidgley and Sarah Applegate John D. Tiley and Martha E. Dickerson. John Blaize and Lucinda Bronson.--iWW»r Henry Blackman and Ellen Terry. Carl Lay her and Auestina Layher. Ell Stewart and Catharine E, Abbott.— O. P. Matherly and Mary F. Strader. Jasper Stanley and Elizabeth A. Rodman Robt. joobson and Nancy A. Surber.

FOURTH

OF JULY CELEBRATION.-^The

committee ®f arrangements met Saturday evening, and Messra. Holden and Crowe were added to the finance committee. Gen. Charles Cruft was selected as Chief Marshal, Major Smith having declined.

The committee on Music was directed tD confer with Mr. Paige and tbe Maenner Chor and ask them to furnish some vocal music.

A $10 silver goblet is to be awarded the fastest velocipede—50 cents being tbe entry fee.

CONCERTS.—The Kail Family of Shel. barn, will give two grand concerts of vocal and instrumental mueic at Pence's Hall on Thursday and Friday evenings of this week. Of this family the Sullivan Union thus speaks:

We venture the assertion that there is not a family in the State of Indiana that possesses half the musical talent that the Kail Family does, and if they bailed from some noted city, would have full houses in any city in the country. Miss Inga Kail cannot be excelled at the organ or piano by any one we have ever beard, while Miss Tid Kail's lecture on Musio, the "District School,'' and the "Bachelor," were delivered in a manner that would put to blush many of our public speakers.

All matters considered, we pronounce the Kail Family worthy of patronage, and commend them to tbe lovers of music, whether in city, town or country sohool house. Their entertainments are worth tbe admittance asked, aod we bespeak for them a full house wherever they may conclude to perform.

REAL ESTATE TRANSFERS.—The following transfers of real estate were entered upon the Recorder's books during last week:

Leander Denham to Riley Whitney, one-third interest in 40 acres in Pierson township for $200. as. Siner to Joseph Abbott, lot in Tuell dt Usher's sub-division for $800.

COMPARE AND JUDGE FOR YOURSELVES. —Aided by a large number of late arri vale, I havej now open for inspection altogether the largest assortment of really first-clasi Pianos ever opened in this city. I do not make the shallow claim that a Piano scarcely fifteen years before the public has the tremendous qualities of outwearing two or three others, but do make the substantial and undeniable as sertion that buyers may find at my ware« room several makes of Pianos which have earned a world-wide reputation by having stood a successful test of twice and nearly three times fifteen years, and which for all the essential points to be united in a truly first-class instrument are altogether unrivalled. By some recent exchanges I am in possession of several instruments of some of the makes represented by me which have been subjected from twenty to twenty-five years constant usage, yet all parts of the instrument are still in good preservation and working order Ail buyers studying their own interest to get the best and most reliable Pianos ever introduced here, should not fail to visit KISSNER'S PALACE

AMUSING AND INSTRUCTIVE LECTURES. —We expect to see Pence's Hall crowded to overflowing this evening by old and young to hear Dr. Simms on the subject of Physiognomy and Pathognomy. It a grand theme and when handled by one of the Doctor's marvelous powers of il lustration and mimicry, it is safe to say that interest and fun will be the order of the evening. Those who are ignorant touching what "laughing, walking and shaking hands" indicates in the dispoe tion and character should attend by alj means, and learn what all these move ments point out to a close and practical observer.

Dr. Simms can be found at his room in the Hall during the day prepared to give charts to all who may wish them, dlt
