One pe cullarity of the measure is, that the asked for ref rm emanates from the public— from those who will have to pay additional taxts in tho event of their petition meeting with success. We wish the taxpayers of Indiaba oould be imbued with alike sentiment of liberalit/, "'df ^faiHn^ in that, we wpuld be glad, to h$ve theOi do only simple justice to .tha,. female teachers in tha public schooU rOjL thu State. If a woman does her work Veil as a man does his, we know of nl good reason why she should toot receive the same amount of salary, and if she cad not perform her duties as weU as th| other, she has no right to ber position at a)J. But it is a'notorious ffcct that fcji teaching the" very youqg .of either se| and for* teaching girls' of any age, the woman is altogether the besfc and moii desirable instructor. This note simply commended it to the attention of the parties, and said that an explanation was desirable. This note was signed by the Secretary at bis house, and the missive went on its way.
