The same* paper thinks ttfose simpleminded men who obtruded their inharmonious views upon the Conventicp would have been served right- had they baen incontinently snubbed. Their draft uppon the gallantry of the superior sek was duly honored, however, and the ia trudejs was endured with patient courtesy. Woman's compassion is unbounded.
Jarqo, who failed to sufficsently- impress the Convention with the immeasurable importance of his "new party" movement, revenged his wrongs by an attempt to poke fun at Miss Amanda Wax. He says it atruckhim "as not ei" actly a 'fltten' thing' for Miss Wat who for the last forty-odd summers his had her own undisputed way, to assume tbe initiative in a movement for womas'a 'rights/ Had she married some good fellow when she arrived at womanhood, who knows but she might have j^d them—secerai of them by this time.

It is not easy to ascertain tbe exsjct tenor of Mr, Motley's instructions: Triie, their "precise character" has been stated by a dozen "high authorities." but, unfortunately, there is liitle harmony in th^se statements. Rumor hath it that he offered hsffWrasllB* to "break" With Lepper, and marry him. That is what we call getting a wife cheap even if the woman herself should turn out utterly worthless, her wedding clothes must be wortn'more than that. If he is satisfied, both brides certainly ought to be and Lepper hsis made the best 'bargain of all—for while Miss Carrie had no childrenj Miss Betsey had two. This, however, may be owing more to luck than shrewdness on Lepper's part, for it is rot certain whether be knew it, when he married her. ip

REVOLT AT THE JiOKlHICBN PRISON I
"Iloasicr Bill'-' XortaUy Wounded
From the Id&*Dspoils Sentinel, 11th.] —A' desperate' plot' to orerpower the guards and effect a general delivery, was frustrated at the "Northern State Prison on Tuesday. It appears that the well known desperado, "Hoosier Bill," who is serving out a term of fourteen years for -attempting-to assassinate Isaac Davis, was at tbe head of the conspiracy, and conceived the desperate plot, which has probably cost him his life. He had succeeded in drawing the greater portion of the convicts into the scheme, which was for them to revolt in the dining-room at noon, overpower tbe guards, seise the truck cars,* batter down the wall, and make their escape in a body, each man 1 oking out for himself in directing his flight."
Shortly after the oonvicts had seated themselves at the dinner table, on Tuesday, Hoosier Bill gave th? signal, for attack! but the courage of Bis confederates oozed out at their finger ends. It flashed in ihe pan, bat ih order to inspire' tbe necessary pluck, Hoosier Bill flourished ft case knife, and rushing upon one of the guards, falted hifi to the earth. He was movitig on the works of a second guard. wbo dRewi.a revolver and shot the desperkdofn the neck, making him bite the dust. He rallied, and was advancing a second time with uplifted knife, when the guard sent another leaden missive, which entered near the groin, laying him out powerless. The other convicts stood apparently dumbfounded at the unhappy turn of the affair, and surrendered at4. once. At last accounts Hoosier Bill wft/f reported dying. His wounds at* thought to be mortal/
