EDWARDS, TH S COIORED MFRDERKR,

Sentenced to be Hanged on the 12tb ..»•*»« '.of June. Meit* i-tui -f'®* W it '^1*' fWB-

The colored man Wm. EdwardsTaiias Boach, who wasreoently convicted of the murder of Louis Wilson at a dance bouse, was brought before Judge Primm Saturday for sentence. He ia a full-blooded negro, of adarkyellow complexion, rather small in size, and of a dull, stupid contenence. He is about 21 years old, and was born in Kentucky, where he belonged to F. C. Sharp, Esq., who brought him to Miesouri when he was a small boy. He was raised in Lexington, Missouri, and was transferred by Mr. Sharp to his brother. He was always considered about half witted, and was never entrusted with any kind of work requiring any great degree of intelligence of care.

Judge Primm pronounced the sentence, reviewing the testimony, and, dwelling upon the enormity of the crime committed, asked the prisoner if he had anything to say why sentence should not ba passed upon him, Edwards said: »I have a fow word9 to say. He ©truck me fit6t. After that he asked me what I wanted with him. I asked him what he struck Nancy for. He struck me again, and knocked t,wjo of my teeth out, as you ban seef. He "struck me again in the breast. When I got to the door, he hauled off" with a slung-shot, and then I got out of his way and ran out. Allen Payne, Wilson and Henry Johnson got after me and were all on me. They had me down fipd^one of^theoMtAmped jne. They had nfie against th6 wall and wore choking me. Wilson said, 'Let me get at the son of a—.' I then cut bim with the knife. I tried to'get out'Of his way, and could not. That ii all I have to say."

Tho Judge then concluded as follows And now, William EdwafdF, "otherwise called William Roach, it be&imes the du ty of the Court to pronounce the Ben tenc8 of the law.

That sentence is, that for your crime of murder in th© ftrat degree, of which you stand dohvfctsa,* you be taken from this Court to the county jail Of St Louis county, there to remain in the custody of the jailor thereof, until Saturday, the 12th day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and _sixty-n|ne that..frqm said jail, on that ^iaypyoiu he taken by Che mgrihal of said county to t^€rplaC8'0f-«xecution appoint ed by law, and that there, between the hours of ten o'clock in the forenoon and three o'clock in the afternoon of eaid day, you be hfnged by the neck uritij you be tleacL— Laths Democrat. \_s

THE fame of the celebrated PX-AHTA,-TIOK BITTERS has no parallel in the history of Medicine. The thousands upon thousands of bottles that are made and sold daily is but proof positive of their wonderful virtuos. Thousands of Certificates can be produced showing the efficacy and certainty of the cures which they effect, and the Medical Fraternity usually so jealous of anything which causes persons to think and doctor for themselves, are compelled to acknowledge their wonderful virtues, and prescribe them' unfier other names. They are sold by all druggists. 21-dwlw

ANIMAL LIFB is full of corruption and we can only hope to escApe the ills which flesh is heir to by a judicious use of the retnedi in nature's store-house. In all the limo which has past since the work began, mankind has given great attention and some of its best talent to the study of medicino. While the sacrifice has not been wholly ia vain, the facts •licited are few and mostly unaatifactory. Among tho truths which have been elicited is this, "that if we keep the blood pure we must bo healthy."
