MOBE IMPROVEMENT'.—We learn the Baptists contemplate erecting, this season, a handsome church edifice on the corner of Fifth and Cherry streets, fronting on Fifih. It will be an elegant and tmposiog structure, if the .pastor can work his congregation up to his plans
JOHN H. SIBLEY died on yesterday at 10 o'clock A. M., at the residence bf his brother in Chicago, in the 29th year of his age. Mr. Sibley was for several year? clerk in the PostoiBce here, clerk at the Terre Hauta House, and for about one ye*r, in connection with Mr. Turner, proprietor of that well-known Hotel. He

was respected and honored by all who knew him. Possessing a warm and generous heart, he drew around him a large oircle of friendB who will hear of his death with sadness and sorrow.
A YOUNG THIEF.—Robert E. Lankey, a boy about thirteen years old, stole a horse and buckboard, belonging to Mr. Bissell, from a shed near the Terre Haule House on Wednesday evening. He was followed and overtaken near Pleasant Garden, in Putnam oounty, and on Friday evening, was brought back to this city. The Mayor committed him in default of three hundred dollars bail until the first day of March, when the examination will take place. The little rascal was making his way to Newcastle, Pa. where his friends reside. He came here about two months ago for the purpose of getting work at the Rolling Mill.
THEATER AKD VELOCIPEDES.—This afternoon, Rouse's Dramatic Company and the Velocipede Combination will give a Matinee Performance, for the convenience of ladies and children, with prices of admission reduced to twentyfive cents for adults and fifteen cents for children.
This evening the Dramatio Company--will produce the musical extravaganza, entitled the "Forty Thieves," with the original music, songs, etc. After which the Velocipede company will appear in a variety of pleasing exercises, concluding with a priza race, for amateurs of this city alone, tbe winner to be presented with a silver goblet. This will form a very pleasing entertainment, and one that will certainly fill tbe hall.
