Youthful Depravity !—On Saturday a young lad who has been in jail some ten days on a charge of larceny, sent word to Mayor Cookerly that if he would allow him to come to his office he would make a voluntary confession not only of his own guilt, but of a number of thievings and robberies that have been committed In the city during a few weeks past. He was brought out of jail, and on his statement, four boys, John Ryan, C&ester Sherburne, Stephen Roach and Jerome Hayes, were arrested Saturday evening and taken before the Mayor, charged with breaking into Bartlett & Grundy's peddling wagon, and stealing therefrom a lot of goods, some three weeks since. Some of these goods, consisting of hair combs, suspenders, spectacles, and other notions, were recovered by the officers. The boys are aged from 16 to 21 years, and are respectably connected. They have, however, been long suspected by the city officials. It being quite late when the parties were arrested and the goods resovered, the examination of their cases was continued until thil morning at ten o'clock.

The jAPPRAIOSMEMENT ---The flew appraiseinent of real estate is bothering a good many of our people, who don't exactly understand the business. The queer lookirg blanks left arajnd by the Appraiser are liko so much Greek to a great majority of property holders. I—About eleven o'clock Saturday
night, the Early block, corner of Main and Second streets was discovered filled with smoke. The alarm was given, and the engines were promptly on hand, but fully ten minutes elapsed before the fire was discovered. It originated at No. CI, the lower floor of which is occupied by Adams & Stewart as a grocery store, and the second story by L. Forster & Son, as a furniture wareroom. Tho engines were in good working order, and the fire was squelched in throe minutes after the first water was put on. .$1,000 will oover the loss of Forster & Son and of Adams & Stewart, fully covered by insurance. The latter are insured in the Phcanix, represented by B. F. Havens, and the Forsters are insured in one of the companies represented by Hosford & Boudinot. The origin of the fire is a mystery, and each of the occupants claim that it started on tho premises of the other. It is th3 opinion of Chief Engineer Bell that it or'ginated on the first fioor.

Pogue." fthd plot.of. this dram* is well woven, the churactors well drawn, and there is progrWlve interest from the first scene to the final fall of the curtain and in the banc® of Mr. Rouse's company the characters were well brought out. Mr. Bouse acquitted himself handsomely as "Shaun, the Post." As the hopeful, honest unsophisticated lover, be portray ed the bliss an individual is supposed to feel on such occasions to tho life and when misfortunes thickened around ho exhibited the same fidelity. Mrs. Rouse, as she always does, entered into the true spirit of "Arrah Melish." As a vocalist, this lady is especially attractive, and one could never tire at the vocal symphonies of "Arrah," whether in the moments of her most exaltant joy or deepest anguish, Miss Nellie Jones personated with vivacity and spirit the dashing "Fanny Power." She has a comeliness of person and feature, and, above all, two orbs for eyes that are rather dangerous for the peace of mind of the unwary or unsophisticated. Mrs. Rainford was especially excellent in her rendition of old woman "Katy Walsh." "Beemish McCoul" by Mr. McFarland, "O'Grady," by Mr. RusseH were well represented, but to our mind the moat finiehed piece of acting was that of Mr. "W. J. Fleming as "Michael Feeney," who was doubtless intended, and successfully, too, by the author, as the consummate impersonation of everything mean, villainous and avaricious in nature.

Grape Wine fob Sickness.—Decided-, ly one of the most credi'.able of any advertised article we have ever seen, is t|e wine bearing the above name, from thle vineyard of Mr. Alfred Speer, of Passaic, N. J. This wine is expressed from the Oporto jjrape, which, under the hand 6f Mr. Speer, has been brought to a state of great perfection. The wine possesses the very highest medicinal virtues, and certainly as an article of beverage it is not, in our judgment, to be surpassed in color, taste, or any of the qualities which constitute a pure, mild and agreeable wine.—Boston Transcript.
