FINE'BEEF.—Francis

Steverson drove

past our office yesterday four very fine beef cattle, each two year old, whieh' he had'just purohased of Mr. Welch, on the Bloomington road, for four hundred doK lars. Mr. Steverson will kill one of th^e each Saturday, and serve up tbe beef at his meat shop near the lower-market

BDBBEBT.—On Sunday night Bartlett & Grundy's peddling wagon while stanjl. ksmith shpp notions,

was broken oped, and notions, pocket books, lead pencils, hair brushes, suspenders, etc., to tbe amount of twenty or twenty-five dollars abstracted. No clue as yet to the robbers. Bartlett & Grundy will give ten dollars for the detection bf the scamps.

ANOTHER FIRE!—Yesterday morning kbtfat one o'clock a Bmall house, the property of Mrs. Crum, on the, Indianapolis road, just outside tbe city limits, was destroyed by fire. It was occupied by M|s. Crum,' John MoOatfy, wife and cbiM, who barely esoaped with their lives, saving but little of their furniture or plotping. It is suppled to have been tie work of an incendiary. It was but 'a short distance from .the hQu?^ Monday afternooni,.

A VELOCIPEDE CLUB is talked of. Let it be organized by all means. *W& wait to see the fine points of the revolving Pegasus brought out fully by .the lively spirit of competition which such a club will induce. The velocipede requires neither oats, hay nor currying to brine him to good running condition but it does require some practice, and then we believ^^o be as safe as—aa-rrthe muji in a circus. It is perfectly subject to tbe bit, but*the bit must become perfectly Subject to the rider. Form your club, gentlemen let's see what can be done. «.»

VALUABLE IMPROVEMENT.— We are pleased to learn a company is being or* ganized for tbe purpose of buying up tbe vacaitt.lots on the Spinning Wheel corner, Md one or two adjacent lots, for the purpose of erecting a splendid bloek of fine stojoB fronting on Main street, with an Opera Hall above. We are informed more than sixty thousand dollars have alrea^, **»n subscribed. No more valuable investment could be made, nor one more gratifying to every well-wisher of the prosperity and enlargement of the attractions of our beautiful city.

DAN SHELBY'S MINSTRELS made* their first appearance at Dowlingv Ha&aad gave a most charming performance to 4 delighted audience. Dan Shelby is ait original wit and the life of-the company, leading the members' through the pleasing paths of music, wit, eentiment, farce and'burlesque peculiar to negro minltrelsy, while eaeh individual member of tbe company viee with ono another in making up a choice programme.. There is •charm of originality about the troupe that is quite refreshing it these days of •overdone and worn out minstrelsy. Tonight the company appears -for the taat ^ime in an ,entire change of programme, secure good .se^ta an early-attend.
