In tbe secondjround Donovan got in cn the sriotii ,cff .Iioyle, drawing the first blood. In some subsequent round, Donovan, with hfc left, mad? the only square knock down during the flgbt.

Most of the roundB wera terminated by a clinch and fall, Donovan generally being uppermost. ''Foul" waa called on Boyle four times, the last time, being in the twenty-third round, the "foul" was admitted by the referee, and Donovan waa declared the ivictor.

The umpires were Frank Kelly of Chicago, for Donovan, and Dr. of Peru, for Boyle. Lewis- Holbrook, of Laporte, presided as referee. Harry Simpson andEd Dorney acted as seconds for Donovan, and James "Vyilliams and Pat Monahan acted in the same capacity for Boyle. Twenty-three rounds were fought, the fight lasting thirty-three minutes.

Donovan does, not .sliow any severe punishment, and his frtebds claim that BoylePwaa. badly used up. jwe regret exceedingly that no Sheriff's ce on the most ^tpHneipals, tipals, been

officers, mada their scene. It would have ting' finale if the'whole umpires and spectators arrested and yanked off to the nearest jail. The horde of ruffians and prize lighters who have lately made Chicago their headquarters, seem to have come to the conclusion that Indiana offers the grtisitest inducement as a battle ground, and have acebrdinly come to this State sever^ times recently for the purpose having these-brutalexhibitions.

It is .time a stop was put to it. Public sen^ftHent demands it common lpprjlit^ and decency demand *it aad if the Legislature has any respect lor the will ot the peopli, it will enaot a law inflicting severe^punishment upon any one who may participate in or witness a prize fight. The sentence 6f one or two of thesit ruffians to the penitentiary, for four of five years would soon break tbe business up.

26.-—The

Tribune's

Washington dispatch his the following: Grant is strongly opposed to tbe pending Alabama claitas treaty, and the fo» lewing is his position nearly in' his ova words

The treaty is unjust to the United States, because it assumes to measure the injury inflicted upon this (country by a iponey value of ship?.actually destroyed, whereas tfae chief injuty to our commerce was in our ships being driveh from the seas by Anglb-rebel pirates, In addition to thi the sympathy extended by the English Government to the South prolonged ,tjie at: least a year, and for all the lives lost and money expended for this time England is directly responsible. The treaty proposes to settle all these things by tho payment of tbe paltry value of a few ships.

The Times'Washington dispatch has a similar paragraph and says, this seems to- indicate that Mr, Beverdy Johnson will be recalled at no very distant day, and that the ontire question will be reopened on a totally different .ba^i| under the new administration.
