from 10 to 20 per cont in building, should let their work in a lump contract to a good responsible builder, and have a full set of plans, details and specifications made out by an architect of ability. Architects' charges in the Eastern States and the larger cities, vary from 2 to 5 per cent, and even above this. We understand that plans and specifications for any kind of house, may be had here for 1$ to 3 per cent commission on the cost of the work.
DROWNED.—Yesterday
morning, about
day-break, as the steamer Mason was passing the mouth of Big Raccoon, John Riley a colored cabin boy fell overboard. The boat, which was under full headway, was immediately stopped, and a small boat lowered, but too late to save the boy. Captain Whittaker expresses deep sympathy for the parents and relatives of the unfortunate boy, and will use all effortg in hisjpower tor the recovery of the body. WEALTH!—This

avenue everybody's feet are seeking, but many there are who fail to enter in thereat. "The plainest highway to financial success has been, fully demonstrated to be the newspaper route. Some fellow who has expressed our ideas before we found time to do it out self, presents the necessity and value of newspaper advertising in the following clear and, tinging Worclsi-^tf a Inroad," brilliant archway iof ,ljght,"as full t)f splendor as a rainbow, spanned the heavens, each end resting on either oqoan^ ehrawd, thoughtful tradesmen would pay enormous sums to have their name# inscribed on this veritable bow of promise,' Such is the newspaper press. lU^TeKering trtver grows dim, a continentMeiiofe&sVadowed by its broad expanse, and millions read its va ried insoriptwns^ By such means the amount of sales is augmented, and capital is rapidly 'turned over,' and thus it happ^s that they who advertise igost sell seft "teost cheaply. Tmr-inerthaht Who re-invests bis capital^ejery m«n*h can afford to sell goods and wares for one-twelfth the prof* it charged by the alow dealer, who never advertise?, and sells out only once a year. The more tbe merchant sells the oftener he re-invests, and th« cheaper become his goods. It has therefore been found by farmers that they buy the cheapest goods from those who advertise the most. Placards and show bills constitute very proper modes of advertising but no means of giving notoriety to any fact is equally successful with that tp which newspaper advertisers resort. Each day the thousand subscribess to the newspaper read the story, and the five borrowers to eaeh subscriber make the number of readers Jive thousand. Through days and weeks
