Fro-a tho New Albany Ledger.] Again are we called upon tare(5bi?d-th enactment of a horrible-tragedy,by which a poor, lonely old man lost his life at the hands of some viflian, who sought to ob tain a booty of a few hundred dollars, the old man's savings
In Clark couaty,. near the village of BennettsvUl® V(*B ih© line ,of the'NewAlbany railroad,) and about ten miles from this city, lived, ah old man named Morgan Zillings. He bad no family of his own, but part of the time boarded with the family that lived on his farm, and part of the time lived by-himselC His farm was well stocked and kept in good repair. In addition to his home place he owned ten acres of land in this county.
Upon an examination of the cabin of the deceased some deeds, tax receipts, and some certificates of deposit in the New A' bany Savings Bank were discovered.
A man was employed by the Coroner to take charge .ofthe premises until the murdered man's relatives, if he has any, shall appear, or an administrator appointed.
Upon inquiry of Mr. McDonald and Mr. Davis of the Savings Bank, we have learned some particulars in regard to this unfortunate old man. He has been, for a considerable time, depositing Bmall sums of money in the bank, the gross amount to his crolit now being $286 04. The last time he was in the city was ona recent cold d«y. As usual he was dressed in rags, and wore a light summer hat. On into the bank to make a deposit tfr. McDonald asked him why he did not take some of his money and buy moie comfortable clothing^ especialy a hat. The old man said his clothes and hat were as good as he granted, and he preferred savine his money. Mr. McDonald then asked him what wonld become] of his money when he died. Zillings replied that he "supposed the sharpest would get it." Atone time he intimated that he had brothers and sisters, in Pennsylvania, we believe, his native State He further said that he desired to go to New Orleans this winter, and waff then looking for a fiatboat on which he could work his passage. On being asked how or wwith wnom he lived, hesaid he lived with the family on his farm "when they ironld let him at other times alone.
